The plate presented a pretty picture but unfortunately, the taste did not follow through. Everything on the plate was just ok. Nothing I would hurriedly return for. Coconut Club has better fried chicken and Nasi Lemak Kukus has better sambal.

Unlike the travesty that was the Hainanese Chicken Rice Balls, this nasi lemak delivers in a largely competent fashion. The juicy otah was like a happy prawn-fish cake hybrid whilst the fried chicken fared slightly less well, being as tough and restrained as a nuzzled Doberman. Fortunately, the sweet and spicy (albeit cautiously tame) sambal swooped in like a svelte, black-dressed and crimson-lipsticked PR associate and made things a lot more fun. 3.4/5

The dark rage that this $16.80 dish ignites is equivalent to the feeling you get when you realise that obnoxious, Phua Chu Kang mole-above-her-lip, banshee-esque secretary from the other department who once stomped on your shoes while queuing ahead of you at the ayam penyet stall managed to get on the M1 iPhone early registration list…which you narrowly missed out on because minutes before the registration closed you needed to take an unexpected emergency dump.

The titular balls had the decidedly unoily, dry, tired stickiness of half-licked envelope adhesive lining after an afternoon soccer game, and the parents of fragrance and flavour probably forbade them from going outdoors that day because of the haze. The beansprouts probably stood too long in the shower, whilst the soup had as much personality as one of those footpath spiderwebs along Thomson Road. The chicken feebly tries to pick up the slack, but what’s the point really? 1.6/5

Never thought we would be able to find affordable North Indian fine cuisine in the heart of the Tiong Bahru estate. Palak paneer, it's been more than 5 years since I had you...

Definitely not for the weak buds, with a range of authentic Chai lattes from Chaitime. Not my cuppa tea, but I like their corner spot to chill at.

Hugeeee half crackling pork knuckle!! Could be better but it isn't too shabby.
