Went to The Populus for lunch today and ordered a Populus All Day Big Brekky with Salmon ($28) and a Truffle Wagyu Beef Donburi Rice Bowl ($25)!😇 Big Brekky was delicious and I really enjoyed the rosti topped with the sauce and the poached eggs😍 Donburi on the otherhand was just normal (maybe I didnt really like the brown rice haha)
Overall ratings 8/10!!😇 A little pricey and the bowl was meh but the Brekky was great!!🤣
Topped with crab meat, scallops, tobiko and roasted cherry tomatoes, the pasta noodles were done al dente and coated with their homemade lobster bisque. The Seafood Linguine ($24) was flavourful as the bisque was rich though I wished they gave more of it as overall it was a tad dry. The wagyu beef grain bowl ($24), on the other hand, was much lighter in flavour and it felt very healthy. The wagyu slices were tender and served on a bed of quinoa, bulgar wheat and pearl barley.
Available in 2 sizes, the White 6oz was a full body while White 8oz was a balanced flavour with more milk. I had the 8oz which was smooth and nutty, and medium bodied with less acidity. Still a place for good coffee and chill vibes.
Great coffee, not too bitter. Has soy, almond and oat options.
The food was great! Eggs were nice, everything was well seasoned, atmosphere was modern and cool. The only complaint is that it was quite expensive, cost like $30+ for the breakfast
Roasted Halibut (cod fish) & Soba ($24)
I rarely saw salad for soba with fish but this interesting combination for salad made me so wow (unexpected) and didn't expected that it was so good. soba was served in cold style as japanese they usually do but soba just served in hot style as western they usually do it most of time. I really enjoyed to eat halibut (cod fish) as it was not that strong fish smell tbh. Overall taste that it really sweet and sour experience but it's a bit oily from salad dressing.
Fish & Chips ($24)
hmmm i don't said that best of best for fish & chips because I felt that their batter was too much for me even though I squeezed lemon for fish & chips evenly. But their batter was really crispy and crunchy but the fish was really I did eat their seasonal greens (salad) finish but I didn't eat finish their fries as I reserved my stomach for dark chocolate sundae (high recommendation for ordering this). I didn't expected their tartar sauce included truffle and really unexpected from it :") I told my sister that they add truffle inside the sauce but she didn't believed me :') Their truffle tartar sauce really so fragrant and strong taste tbh.
