The noodles are cut into smaller strands which you eat with just a spoon. Each slurp brings an umami combination with just a touch of spice and more of the coconut flavour. The accompanying ingredients include cockles, fish cake and prawns. Add in a side of otah for the ultimate comfort food experience.

🍽️ The Original Katong Laksa - Janggut Laksa
📍 1 Queensway, Queensway Shopping Centre, Unit 01-50, Singapore 149053
Enjoying a leisure lunch at Queensway shopping centre on a weekday afternoon is like a dream 💭 come true for me.
The last time I had this luxury of time was probably in the early-1990s.
Nonya laksa is one of my favourite food as part of my childhood memories — growing up in Joo Chiat area during the 1970s and 1980s.
I fondly remember my mum bringing me and my brother, to the row of laksa stalls located at the corner of Ceylon road in the afternoon to have our lunch.
Afterwards, we will head to Tay Buan Guan supermarket [a first of its kind, back then in the area] which was just a stone’s throw away — through a narrow gap between the shophouses for some groceries before strolling home together.
Sadly, the site of the supermarket has since been replaced by private residential but there is always the Katong laksa that I can enjoy together with my loved ones.

The chicken is tender and juicy, coated and fry it and topped with savoury curry that tasty and enough lemak.
I added otah to compliment my chicken curry, shiok 😋.
💰$5.5 for chicken cutlet curry rice (small) and $1.3 for otah.
Thank you @juliuslim and @nusfatclub for recommending this place.

That should warm the cockles of your heart!
Available in S($5) or L($7), every spoonful is packed with flavour and ingredients! For those that can’t take spice well, this is actually not spicy at all if you don’t mix the chilli in.
Maybe it’s just me but I felt that the broth was slightly diluted. That might be a good thing since you can down the whole bowl of laksa without feeling too jelak…😉
Back to favourite local food delight - Queensway’s laksa shop situated at lvl 1 right near the entrance. Remember vividly how I used to dine in here during secondary school days and just doing window-shopping for sports wear (where Nike bottles/FBTs was a trend back then 🤣)
Was contemplating between big ($7) or the small portion ($5) and which I got the latter option and I would safely say I love the chilli because it isn’t spicy for me LOL. The broth’s really addictive that makes every scoop of broth worth savoring for, leaving the bowl empty in no time 🥰💯

We used to travel specially to Queensway Shopping Centre to queue for 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝘂𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗮 but now they have open more outlets and can be found in Wisma Food Republic, Roxy Sq, 331 Paya Lebar Rd & even Chinatown Point! ⠀
⠀
In Chinatown Point, the aka carte Laksa are priced at regular $5.50 & large $7.50. We couldn’t resist our temptation so we had to order the large bowl😬. Noodles were cut shorter so no chopsticks were needed, there’s beansprouts, fish cakes, prawns and cockles! Laksa gravy were super fragrant with coconut taste, light and not too thick and jelak! Goes super well with their sambal chilli sauce too, it’s not too spicy and taste is just right! Super duper shiok and comforting! One of our to-go Laksa place whenever we have cravings! ⠀
