Been craving for Korean marinated crab since first trying them in Seoul 1 year ago and glad that more restaurants are slowly introducing them here. At $28+/piece, it’s decently priced considering we had it for $35 each in Korea.

While it can’t help but be less fresh than the source, it was nonetheless indulgent and satisfying. Their rendition featured less bright orange roe and were a tad more briny but well-marinated without being too salty. It’s not the easiest to dig through but the savory and umami-packed jelly-like meat were worth the effort.

Had good kbbq and soy marinated crab at @thegogijip recently! Good here is generally good though the meats are pricey but the quality's better than what you usually get 🤤

The price might turn you off but the set came with a substantial amount of food - free flow iced tea and banchan, and the main star of the show, the crab. Carefully squeeze out the flesh from the body and slurp up the juicy flesh and briny roe. Some might find the marinade a tad to salty but after wiping off the excess I thought it was a perfect umami bomb (eat with rice for maximum enjoyment)! Texture was somewhat like scallops but softer. Might be an acquired taste for some but I certainly I'd enjoy it.

For the banchan, standouts were the Kimchi, sweet potato chunks, and the tofu. Seaweed soup was also delicious, but not sure if it's refillable. Also ordered the Black Soybean Ramyun ($12) as 2 pax couldn't share 1 lunch set, but we didn't enjoy it at all.

Lunch menu very worth it, if you wish to try ganjang gejang. But i find it is quite salty if you are not used to it

Besides using charcoal barbecue to cook premium meats such as iberico pork, The Gogijip also serves a good variety of Korean cuisine, such as ganjang gejang the “rice stealer”, beef large intestines and beef tartare.

The GJGJ here is always fresh and does not taste fishy at all. If you’re still afraid that it’ll have the fishy smell and taste then try the spicy marinated one! The bossam, haemul jjeon & kimchi are my favorite! Craving for it all the time!
