The weather is so warm recently, so nice that @tangtavern is just around my hood that I can drop by anytime to enjoy a bowl of cold dessert

Tang Tavern 唐轩 is a popular dessert place located just along the clementi road, just outside NUS specialise in traditional and Asian-inspired desserts. What I having now is the Mango Pomelo with a choice of Vanilla or Coconut Ice Cream. Shiok πŸ˜‹

Checked out the relatively new Tang Tavern which is situated near Kent Ridge Bus Terminal β€” the shop, which primarily serves up Chinese desserts is located after the Al Amaan Restaurant which seems to be popular with the NUS students in the area. The shop serves up mostly Chinese desserts, with items such as Mango Pomelo with Vanilla Oce-Cream, Taro & Purple Sweet Potato Ball and Papaya Milk on the menu β€” they also serve up a small variety of beverages such as ice-blended drinks and yogurts with milk mousse. Whilst being a spot with dine-in seating, most of the seats available for dine-in patrons are al-fresco seats placed just right outside the shop.

The Durian Mousse w/ Maoshanwang is one of those dishes that we would usually try in such establishments. Served chilled, the Durian Mousse is also available as-is without the Mao Shan Wang flesh for a lower price. Digging into the dessert, the durian mousse carries an evident hint of pungent scent of the king of fruits β€” pretty much already giving the dessert a punchy note even without having the dollop of durian flesh itself. The Mao Shan Wang flesh, whilst fibrous, felt a little clumpy and dry however β€” a little difficult to tear off using the spoon to portion bit by bit to be had with the durian mousse. That being said, it I still a fairly decent bowl of durian mousse that we could not get enough of given how strong the flavours were β€” one that would definitely appease the durian lover.

Given its rather obscure location that makes it a tad inconvenient for most to reach, Tang Tavern isn’t that spot I would go all the way out for to get my Chinese dessert cravings settled β€” there are many other establishments that serve up better renditions of the desserts which they serve. However, they do make for a great option for NUS students who are staying in the halls to dine at β€” perhaps one of those places to visit for dessert after a Prata meal at Al Amaan Restaurant or Niqqi’s Cheese Prata given its locality.
