Michelin-starred soba deep in the alleyways of trendy Omotesando in Tokyo. The quality of these noodles is unparallelled. Flavoursome and chewy, the noodles can be accompanied with a variety of toppings including smoked herring, tofu and tempura(which was already sold out at opening time), and served cold or in hot soup. Mixed thoroughly with the natto and raw egg, the resulting combination was creamy, nutty and most umami. Pair your noodles with sides such as Japanese rolled omelette, grilled miso(a must-try), tofu, grilled prawn and Sobagaki(buckwheat mash). The food is simple, pure and of the highest standard. Those who come expecting big bold flavours might be disappointed.

As a whole, the dining experience here was an almost zen-like, ritualistic experience, owing to the washitsu-esque(traditional Japanese style room) interior, hushed tones of the guests and the almost reverent manner in which the dishes were presented to us.

Do come at least 15 minutes before opening time(11:30am) or make a reservation in advance, as a queue forms quite quickly and the wait can be long.
