They have several flavours for their puffs that I've forgotten what I bought.

πŸ₯§ Bobo Char Char Mochi Puff
πŸ“Syiok (@syiokeatsg)
πŸ“Œ Beauty World Centre
πŸ’° $2.20

Syiok is quickly solidifying itself as one of my favourite bakeries because the creativity of their bakes are just out of this world. Went down the other day for their regular mochi pies but I realised that they have this new Bubur Cha Cha Mochi Puff and ofc I had to get it.

Instead of regular mochi, this comes with brown sugar mochi that tastes identical to bubble tea pearls. Super stretchy and chewy and friggin amazing. It also has yam and sweet potato cubes but ngl couldn't really taste them over the brown sugar mochi.

Syiok is one of the only bakeries that I'll wake up early on a weekend and travel 1h+ down to get their bakes... yes I'm very very dedicated to my bread and pastries thats why I'm shaped like a ball. Hi @syiokeatsg pls make the mochi pies daily bakes instead of limiting them to weekends so that I'll actually have a reason to be happy when going to campus

πŸ₯§ Yam Puff
πŸ“ Syiok
πŸ“Œ Beauty World Food Centre
πŸ’° $1.50

Anytime I see a yam puff or yam pastry on sale, I get a rush of excitement. I guess I owe it to all the taro hype I've been exposed to since starting this account, given how previously I'd never cared much for yam and now I crave that sweet purple morsel everyday. This yam puff is from Syiok, aka the bakery with the most creative and generously stuffed pastries, which already gave me a pretty good impression of this pastry.

Sure enough, the yam filling is absolutely packed. It's super thick and on the "blockier" side as opposed to softer yam fillings, but the yam taste still packs a punch and the addition of fried shallots supplement it with extra fragrance. This yam puff is on the sweeter side so perhaps eating 1/2 would suffice.

Super worth the price, given how it's the densest yet cheapest yam pastry I've had. If you're a yam worshipper like I've become, be sure to get this whenever you're nearby!

Red bean mochi breads are no stranger to the bread community. But what about red bean mochi PIE? SHSBSJWJ AGAIN SYIOK DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. This pie comes with super generous mochi and red bean! The entire pie is just STUFFED with stretchy, liquidy mochi that tastes like BreadTalk's mochi. There's a strip of red bean filling too.

The red bean filling is like those cheap, smooth ones in bakery red bean breads. Not bad but quite sweet. Together with the mochi, it's a little too sweet, but I didn't mind that that much.

Super interesting pie and I liked it a lot! Stay tuned for the final mochi pie review from Syiok coming soon!

Another mochi pie from Syiok! Same as the other 2, this one is super generously filled with stretchy, liquidy mochi. I found the peanut aspect of this pie a bit disappointing unfortunately, cuz I was hoping for peanut butter or at least chopped peanuts, but the peanut part of this is like those cheap peanut powders used for muah chee. Could barely taste any peanut cuz of the overwhelming mochi. Would love if this pie used peanut butter instead! That would definitely make it my fav pie hehe. The gumdrop things on top are really hard and kinda difficult to eat? Personally would prefer it without but they look so cute!

I'd get the other pies over this one unless they change the peanut powder filling. It's still really good and generous though!

Syiok never fails to blow me away with their super unique and innovative bakes. This time is no different, as it's my first time seeing anyone selling a mochi pie or mochi tart! These are only available on the weekends, so on a bright and sunny Saturday morning, I decided to haul myself out of bed and travel over an hour to Beauty World Centre just to get these pies and gosh was it WORTH IT.

I was absolutely SHOOK at the fillings because HOLY WOW MOCHI!!! I was expecting there to be mainly chocolate with a little piece of mochi inside, like how the mochi in mochi bread is, but I was so pleasantly surprised to cut it open and be greeted by WHITE WHITE MOCHI with some chocolate filling! Not complaining at the amount of mochi πŸ‘€ the mochi is really similar to BreadTalk's mochi, it's pretty liquidy and stretchy and sweet. I personally really love the texture! The chocolate is also really nice and adds a bit of chocolateyness to this.

Sooo good!! Super worth my trip down to beauty world on Saturday.
