Being a relatively new addition to Great World City along with Chateraise is Sweet Symphony — a stall that seemingly focuses on serving up iced and hot Chinese desserts but with a slight Japanese touch. This is, however, not the concept’s first outlet — they also do operate out of a takeaway shop space at Stars of Kovan just a short walk away from Kovan MRT Station; the outlet at Great World City features only three dine-in tables and co-shares a unit with Chateraise beside them. The extensive menu here features cold and hot desserts, with sections of the menu dedicated to specific fruits such as mango and durian, whilst also featuring mousse, Taiwan Ai-Yu, and other classics such as Grass Jelly with Longan and Yam Paste with Pumpkin & Gingko as well.

Watched them making the Hokkaido Melon Mousse Sago, and was pretty excited when we found them actually making the Hokkaido Melon Mousse from scratch — that also explains how the item does take sometime to reach the table given how they are also just a one-woman operation here. That being said, the mousse is nothing short of the sweetness of the Japanese melon; it also feels pretty clean in flavour as well without being excessively sweetened while the mousse was lightly creamy without being too thick (though slightly icy at a certain corner, but wasn’t particularly bothersome). All that went well with the actual cubes of diced Hokkaido Melon that is soft-to-the-bite and gives the dessert a contrast of textures; the added sago pearls and Nata de Coco bits also gives an extra chew amidst the other elements as well.

Skimming through the menu, one may actually find their desserts relatively pricey but the desserts here are also seemingly bigger portion-wise; don’t really think it’s unreasonable especially given how they have executed and also made use of some premium ingredients in the making of their desserts here. While desserts and cafe options can be considered aplenty here at Great World City, Sweet Symphony does work well as an option for somewhat localised desserts with a twist — and one that actually does them pretty well too!
