First time trying a cake from Swee Heng! I was actually expecting this cake to be those moist lava cake kinds of breads but it was actually just those regular chocolate chiffon kinds. Though it's not shown in the pics, there's a thick layer of caramel sauce on top of the cake and it's really sweet, the cream is really nice too! I especially love the generous topping of chopped almonds, which gave it a nice crunch.

Overall a pretty nice cake! I don't usually buy cakes because of how pricey they are but I think this is still relatively affordable and worth a try. It may be a bit too sweet for some though, but if you have a sweet tooth and love almonds, I'd recommend trying this!

Second Swee Heng mochi bun I'm trying! Unfortunately the amount of filling in this bun was pretty disappointing, probably just got unlucky and selected the bun that wasn't as generously filled as other buns. There's a nice amount of mochi but the chocolate wasn't that much :( not complaining tho, cuz it's hard to get 100% consistently generous fillings all the time.

The mochi is stretchy, more on the watery side and slightly sweet, and the chocolate filling has a milk chocolate taste, they go together quite nicely! The top of the bun also has a cookie crumble so when toasted, there's a bit of a polo taste.

Can see why this is so popular! I think I may try again next time to get a bun that is more generously filled. Will probably get it again!

πŸ€”: pricey for it's size and taste...
the mochi was the flowy kind which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I'd say the milk tea flavour was there

Why you skimped on the filling part 2. Would recommend microwaving this rather than eating it as it is. Good texture with the pumpkin, yam paste and flowly mochi. Super sweet though.

Fluffy but why you skimped on the filling! I almost missed out that there was cream cheese with the azuki.

Swee Heng's breads are much sweeter than the other bakeries I've been too. The matcha azuki was one of the more palatable options out of the few I've purchased. Could afford to have more mochi but the matcha flavour came through. The semi flaky bun is fun to eat, but if you're buying for for the flavour, duke bakery will be a better option.
