Once you walk through the doorway at Tamaya Dining at Cuppage Terrace, it’s like a different world because @chiharusg presents a surprisingly minimalist and zen sushi-ya experience for diners.
At dinner last week, I had an 18-course omakase ($140++) served by Chef Saya, a female Japanese Sushi Chef that I found to be very good. Although the pieces of sushi were on the small side, the variety and freshness made up for it.
The following were what I had:
- Mackerel marinated in vinegar
- Simmered Abalone with yuzu and sea salt
- Seared belt fish
- Red snapper aburi and tuna in 2 ways: raw and aburi
- Teapot soup
- Sushi: Squid with Squid Ink Salt, Aji, Zuke, Noduguro, Botan Ebi, Chutoro, Scallop with Housemade Scallop Sauce and Tamago in two ways
- Soup
- Dessert of seasonal Japanese pear
What’s good to know is this place is open every day from 6pm to 11.30pm daily (last order at 11pm). So if you want a late dinner of sushi, this is where you can head over to.
Great omakase set with a variety of fresh fishes. The fishes was well prepared that left a clean aftertaste. The sushi was paired with a string of curated sakes to complete the menu. Overall a great experience!
Creamy and sweet. White shrimp.
