I have just eaten what might be the best Surabaya cake I have ever tasted.
Given by my dad’s Friend Who in turned shared some with me ( thanks dad 🤗), this cake was so fluffy and aromatic with spices of cardamom and cinnamon . The cake was not too sweet and was held together by a homemade plum and raisin jam in place of the purplish artificial jams that most Bakers use these days.
A quick search online reveals that this bakery started from a home kitchen and the recipes and baking methods are very much well preserved even though they have grown rather big .
Anyone going to Surabaya - can bring some back please please please 😜
