So surprised to have authentic carbonara (other than the fact its bacon) with no cream at a heartland cafe!!! It was pretty decent taste wise, but I thought that the flavours from the bacon did not come through as much. Perhaps more flavour and savouriness could better complement the cheesiness and creaminess from the sauce. That being said, its such an affordable classic that I will definitely come back for it.

Consistency is key, and Starbrew proves its superiority by ensuring that their mentaiko ebi pizza remains as good as when I first tasted it. The pizza here is not bready, but rather thin crusted and crispy, which I appreciated. Mentaiko sauce glazed atop made the pizza so creamy, and the slight char gave another layer of flavour to it. I can never get enough of this!

Iced Latte was decent. Smooth with a slight sweetness, nothing too acidic.

Caramel latte was a tad too sweet, but I guess that is what you ask for with a caramel latte. So this is definitely a coffee for the sweet tooth!

Located right smack in the heartlands of bedok is this chill cafe with wonderful vibes! We went there for a little coffee and snack, and we were delighted by the food. The Iced Latte ($6) was strong, not too milky, but the Iced Mocha ($6.50)with Ice Cream was even better! There was a good balance of chocolate and coffee notes and the ice cream made the Mocha even thicker. The Mentaiko Fries ($7.90) was really moreish and we loved how strong the Mentaiko flavours were! However, the fries were just a tad soggy. Will be back to try their highly raved mentaiko pizza!

A relatively fresh face in the Bedok cafe scene, Star Brew by Laughing Cafe occupies a small space within the neighbourhood of Bedok North. A humble and unassuming facade, Star Brew offers fusion food that I believe is worth a shot. If you live around the area, I highly recommend patronising them for a drink, small bite, or even beer, all filled with cozy vibes! While the current menu is limited in options, I am hoping that this cafe will take on a more ambitious direction of expanding their menu to deliver more ambitious dishes and flavours β€” because I am sure the staff and cooks have so much potential and greater things to offer!

My favorite here was the mentaiko ebi pizza. A good portion for one, the pizza crust was thin and topped with a good amount of crunchy shrimps. The best part about this pizza was the generous topping of mentaiko mayo that made the pizza absolutely creamy and full of mentai flavour, as well as the very flamboyant torching of the sauce right before your eyes. Finished off with a huge amount of nori seaweed, it really gave every bite of pizza a good crunch. I do find myself craving this sometimes!
