Despite its fiery looks, their rendition is tamer than it seems, with just a low medium spicy heat that only builds the more you eat.
.
The large bone-in chicken thigh and drumstick is meaty and tender and moist, the thick curry paste lending a bright savoury sweet sour earthy herbal spice flavour.
.
Gets more decadent towards the end, with the chili oil beneath, easily avoided if you choose.

This aging stall is small, but still attracts a queue for its tasty South Indian dishes, serving quietly since 1986.
.
Amongst them is this chapati set, 2 pieces of soft chewy unleavened flatbread with grainy savoury sweet smoky flavour, nicely warm.
.
Served with a delicious potato masala that is soft with bright earthy starchy sweet spice in flavour; and a tender chickpea / chana masala with savoury salty spicy earthy notes.

The chicken and mutton murtabak at Kamala Restaurant is something so unique you may never have tasted anything like it. Well worth the hunt for this place located right next to Tekka market (look for a newly renovated place with the sign Kamala Restaurant), the dough is paper-thin, and the filling is generous, well spiced, and unbelievably tasty. Seriously, you have to try it to believe it. As Burppler Ian Ramsay says, "imagine all the pratas and murtabaks you've ever tasted, combine them all together, and what would you get? Nothing compared to this one." Photo by Ian Ramsay

Okay.. Imagine all the pratas and murtabaks you've ever tasted, combine them all together, and what would you get? Nothing, compared to this one. And I ain't kiddin'. Not your conventional mundane rectangular murtabak but one of a triangular sort. Interesting visual appeal. The meat marinated to perfection and full of flavour. Every corner, generously filled leaving no nooks and crannies empty. Accompanied with the curry of your choice, it further accentuates the overall dish. This hidden gem of a restaurant, beside Tekka Market in Little India, you will definitely miss if you don't slow down and take a look around. $6/$7 to feed two. I guess it's a win-win.
