From the Burpple community

Located just opposite Bukit Merah Town Central, @city_sprouts sits on the grounds of former Henderson Secondary School, whereby the space was converted to a self-contained community garden, social hub and chill dining area.

For those looking for a place to study or work, the dining area comprises of a mix of tall and sit-down tables in a non air-con environment with lots of open ventilation. You can get your coffee fix from @pyroast and settle your meals at any of the hipster stalls there!😉

@pigscanfly.sg caught my eye and I decided to try their Lechon Belly Roll Rice Plate with Watercress Salad, Lettuce & Cucumber. Paying SGD12.80 for this can be pretty steep but heng their lechon didn’t disappoint.👍

Now this is definitely one of the best hidden find so far. The Iced Latte from Pyroast ($5) is really aromatic, and it is really smooth. Even after the ice melts the coffee still remains rather flavourful. Definitely one of the better coffee that I've had so far! This place is located in Sprout Hub, a good place to study or work especially with such good coffee!

This is perfect for a cold day. The soup manages to be strong tasting yet comforting, being cooked with fermented glutinous rice wine which gives a whole new dimension and fragrance to your typical Chinese noodle soup dishes. Accompanying the flavourful soup are QQ noodles, beancurd skin, black fungus, and tender chicken.

A unique dish that was worth the try. Location was quite difficult to get to but we thought that it was worth the trip to come and try this precious hidden gem. We visited on a Friday afternoon and there was no queue at all.

Saw this on Food King and wanted to give it a try! It definitely did not disappoint. The texture of the noodles wow-ed us with how chewy and QQ it was. The noodle dish was very tasty and it was screaming “lard” with every bite we took. So sinfully delicious!

The Hakka fried chicken wing tasted similar to harcheonggai but way less salty and strong flavoured - it had a more refined spice taste. It’s marinated for 24h and double fried for that exceptional c-r-i-s-p!

And the yong tau foo, where should I even start. The soup was very comforting and the yong tau foo were all so delicious! It was a nice accompaniment to the strong tasting Hakka noodles.

Overall a very satisfying meal - I liked that there were so many different things to eat in just one meal. For the price, it’s pretty worth it! Location was quite difficult to get to but we thought that it was worth the trip to come and try this precious hidden gem. We visited on a Friday afternoon and there was no queue at all.

Came at 10am and almost all the dining stores, except for Pyroast and a pop-up bakery, were still closed. Decided to grab a couple of pastries alongside coffee (mocha and flat white) for our breakfast. The mocha was great. Not too acidic and sweet - perfect for someone who doesn’t drink much coffee. My partner enjoyed his cup of flat white too. Affordable coffee prices! Do note that Pyroast sell coffee, beer and waffles only. The pastries were from an event booth.

We had a blast walking around the event space and checking out the garden. Do check their ig for any events - definitely worth a visit.
