saw a relatively short queue of around 6 ppl and so i decided to try it today. first impression would be the chicken is really huge and i think that’s the main selling point. rice was not oily but didn’t have a very strong coconut smell. chicken was very tender and the skin was thin and crispy. it did have some sort of a marinade but i couldn’t tell what is it. overall i find it okay; good for its price.

Finally tried the popular Aromatic Chicken Nasi Lemak ($6.50) from @spicywifenasilemak at Amoy Street Food Centre (#02-119) and this is one of the most generous Nasi Lemak I ever had. It comes with a HUGE grilled chicken leg, fried egg, ikan bilis, peanut and chilli.

The rice is very moist and fragrant. The grilled chicken leg is marinated thoroughly, super tender and full of flavour and char - the skin is especially tasty. Priced at $6.50, this is really a steal for the quality and portion (I am not a small eater but I could not finish my plate) - no wonder it draws long lunch queues on weekdays!

The new stall’s name is Spicy Wife, bet everyone is wondering what his wife looks like 🤣. Ordered the aromatic chicken, which is fried ayam nasi lemak. Because everyone there did! Isn’t the plate grand? Huge chicken leg well marinated with tasty spices. I especially enjoyed the peanuts too. The rice could be more coconutty.

Wish you could’ve seen him. It was very happening how there were two boiling pots full of chicken, as he expertly flicks all the ingredients into boxes, including eggs with dripping centres. Wah, the fried chicken wars are heating up here. This is the 3rd nice one I’ve had.

I actually wasn’t expecting such jumbo size of fried chicken leg. So now I understand why this stall always attracting long queue during lunch time.

Serving Malaysian style of nasi lemak with this signature spiced fried chicken, accompanied with sunny side-up, ikan bilis, peanut and of course the homemade sambal.

Savouring the marinated chicken meat with crisp skin. The blend of spices balanced in every bites of it.

For $6.50, the Aromatic Chicken Set Meal came with a chunky deep-fried chicken thigh that occupied half the plate. Initially was a bit worried that the meat might be dry cos of the slightly darker crisp coating, but it was tender with the flavour from the rempah marinate on the skin! The batter coat was also crispy with the inviting aroma of the curry leaves & lemongrass. Felt that the timing of the deep frying process was spot on, considering it can be difficult to cook through such a big piece of chicken thigh. 🐔

I enjoyed everything else on the plate, including the crispy ikan bilis and roasted peanuts! The house-made sambal leans towards the sweeter side with moderate heat, perfect for mixing everything in. If there's one thing I would nitpick on, I would have preferred the rice to be more lemak and have a more pronounced pandan fragrance. Also, you know the drill at this point: crispy edge fried egg 🤝 BB. 🍳
