Long queues during weekend breakfast, justified by this solid bowl of fishball noodles. I will be queuing weekly for my Sunday breakfast.
Fishballs were bouncy.
Tomato+chilli sauce base gives off the old school vibe
- Fishballs were different from usual factory-made ones, super bouncy smooth which made them easy to bite, clean-tasting and fresh without a strong fishiness, I liked them as I usually don’t fancy those that taste too artificial!
- Saucy kind though I’d prefer less oily.
- Mee pok was quite springy, a bit less wide than what I’m used to, with a fairly alkaline taste which I didn’t mind as it wasn’t overpowering and added a depth of flavour to the chilli ketchup savouriness 🌶️
Located in West Coast Market and Food Center, I have been eating at this stall since 2016 after I moved to west part of Singapore. I always order Mee Kia and the taste is remarkably like old style Teochew fishball noodles.
A $3 portion comes with 3 fishballs, 1 fish dumpling, 1 meat ball, slices of fish cake and minced meat. The portion of noodles is too small thought. But maybe that’s why every so often I have this urge to go eat mee kia at this stall again. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
No wonder I keep coming back.
Really worth it. Everything has character. The sauce was kinda invisible, but in the best way to bring out the taste of the mee pok itself. Fish dumpling was juicy and flavourful, fishballs were bouncy and the meatballs were soft. Really good stuff, unbelievable at this price
Arguably the best Mee Pok I have ever had! The noodle texture is just nice, sauce is perfect and not overwhelming. And not overly oily!
