The aburi Salmon maki is very sumptuous. The salmon is fatty, chewy, fresh and melt in the mouth. The shime Saba and mentai Salmon is not bad but it is really expensive as it is selling at per piece. Would definitely recommend to just go for the maki next time you visit! It is more worth it and definitely more flavourfulšŸ˜Š

This yuzu cider is refreshing and tasty. Did not see this anywhere else before so itā€™s worth the try!

The Spider Maki, priced at $14.80++, sees soft shell crab rolled up with Japanese cucumbers into a comfy blanket of perfectly steamed Japanese rice and dotted in an abundance of tobiko.

Personally, Iā€™d prefer soft shell crab to be served on its own so that I can fully savor the crispy crustacean, but Soshinsen does a good job of convincing me to settle. The soft shell crab within is remarkably grease free, and when combined with the cucumbers, it produces quite the almighty crunch.

The Japs knew all about rollinā€™ up the good good long before the Jamaicans or the Dutch, thatā€™s for sure.

Soshinsen is my new go to place for sashimi. With sashimi as fresh as their plump, sweet scallops priced at $5.80 for a half dozen thick, juicy slices, and thick slices of fabulously fresh salmon belly, itā€™s no wonder that Iā€™ve gotten hooked.

Soshinsen is criminally underrated, and it deserves a lot more attention-on second thoughts, please donā€™t pay attention to this little place, nothing to see here, move along...

Shinsen comes from the Japanese word "ę–°é®®ćŖ" Shinsenā€™na which stands for fresh.
Had the Bara Chirashi Don, which I think reckon is quite fresh, came without marination. Though I think diners will prefer that special x-factor to stand out from other similar bowls.

If there's only one thing you order at Soshinsen, let it be this plate of absolutely sinful ootoro (extra fatty tuna belly) sashimi. At $22.80 nett for three slices, it certainly ain't cheap, but it's so freakin' fresh that if you want it any fresher, you gotta go catch that tuna yourself.

And those three slices are THICK. Like, thicker than Instagram basic bitch selling Fit-tea thick. And like M&Ms, this tuna belly melts in your mouth. If you ever want to experience a slice of heaven in Singapore, get this.

Protip: Soshinsen has limited portions of this divine beauty every week which they fly in straight from Japan, so call ahead and save a slice of heaven for yourself.
