Perfectly runny eggs, fluffy bread, aromatic coffee - its comfort food. But i dont find it very much better then what you can get anywhere else - for a cheaper price too.
The eggs are so well done...definitely a winner vs all other chain stores outside that we know. Very reasonably priced Breakfast set at $6.
So the owners of my favourite coffee stall opened a hip cafe/bar at Kam Leng Hotel at Jalan Besar. Serving great coffee and toast and curry chicken in the day, and bar food at night! (Sadly the prices have increased but it's a pretty cool venue!)

That charred top sure looked pretty on picture, but sadly, fell short of expectations. Though the crust was fairly crisp, I wished the bun itself had the crispy grilled exterior and fluffy insides that I'm crazy about. The kaya was also way too sweet, even for a sugar fiend like I. 😖
That said, I wouldn't mind chilling out at this nostalgic-meets-grungy cafe, housed in the charmingly retro Kam Leng Hotel. Might return to try the enticing Mee Pok (served with poached egg), but will probably skip their toasts in future.
