Super long 25 mins queue at lunch time. The first thing that hits you is the broth. Very umami, you can tell it was done with real prawns in it. I like their pork ribs. They choose the ribs with soft bone and the meat comes off easily. The two pieces of prawns, halved and deveined were fresh and crunchy. You can also add pig skin for 50 cents if you come early.
At $4 a bowl with the inflation these days, it’s value for money. Strongly recommended if you have the time to queue or come earlier.
Bendemeer Prawn Noodle is one of the better stalls in Bendemeer Market, but that isn’t saying much. Sure, the prawn broth is undeniably umami, but it ain’t mindblowingly spectacular, and the noodles are, well, standard yellow noods.⠀
⠀
The prawns are sparing in serving, but they are acceptably fresh. The pork ribs are probably the most memorable element here, with a fatty felicitousness as it melts in your mouth ever so slowly between chews.⠀
⠀
Bendemeer Prawn noodles are decently delicious, and considering that they go for five bucks a pop, it’s hawker fare done right.
Prawn + rib noodles at $3, small portion but well flavoured soup, down to the very last drop! Very tasty, and with chilli padi on the side, absolutely yummy.
Long queue during lunch time
The prawns were fresh
Soup was good
Overall very filing for $5(add prawn)
After living in this area for several years, I haven’t had much luck with this stall: they’re usually either closed or sold out when I swing by. Today, I was victorious in snagging the last bowl! 🎉
More importantly, I’m glad to report that it didn’t disappoint. The soup is equal parts porky and prawny, and it was intense – though I’m not sure if the soup was extra concentrated since it was the last ladlefuls left in the vat. The pork ribs were flavourful even on its own and were tender. Such a shiok bowl!
The stall is now known as Bendemeer Prawn Noodles and it's still at the same stall. Truly a traditional prawn noodles place. Lots of choices to add to the prawn noodles such as pig skin, intestines, pork rib and tail. Soup is a notch above lots of other similar stalls. Truly yummy yummy yum yum yum.
