Went for the 12 piece omakase set course[$125] again and again it didn't disappoint. By far one of the best sushi places to go to for a special occasion.
As I can only upload 10 images, these are my favorite.
Can't wait to go back for the proper omakase menu.
I tried their 15 piece sushi lunch set (Yuki) for $180++. The set came with a soup and dessert. Every piece of sushi was good and this set is extremely value for money. But I feel that the quality of their sushi is not as good as the other Japanese one star sushi places in Singapore. However, if you want to have a large quantity of good sushi at a good price (lunch), Shinji is the place to visit.
After the last of the sushi had been swallowed and the empty bowl of miso soup, cleared, this appeared.
We were told by Shinji's head chef, with actions and all, to squish the ball of yuzu sorbet between the delicate "buns" of paper-light, crisp wafer and eat it like a hamburger.
It was exquisite.
A treat for the eyes as Kobayashi-san skillfully sliced the leek and chopped up the slabs of fatty tuna right in front of us. Only with a sushi counter experience.
Doesn't look like much but the fishball fell apart into meaty, juicy chunks upon chewing. The soup was steaming hot - nothing screams comfort like this bowl of goodness. I guess that's what you get when you make a fishball out of sashimi-grade tuna.
