i never liked udon from the packets you find at the supermarket, but it turns out freshly made udon is so much better. slippery smooth with a good bite, it is ever so delicious. and this version at shin udon topped with shoyu butter, mentaiko and a poached egg is the best thing that ever happened to udon.
