So pretty

Nestled in Joo Chiat, 7s is a pretty cafe with elegant looking decor focusing on modern Australian cuisine. As I was feeling slightly peckish, I was contemplating between a sweet treat or something more savoury. Fortunately for me, there was a $7.70 deal going on when you dine in from 3-5pm. That made the truffle fries a huge steal, especially with its generous portion (for 7 bucks c’mon). Their truffle mayo aioli was a wonderful dipping complement to the fresh, crispy thin fries. I am personally not sure if they have truffle fries in their normal menu, because one of their staff clarified that it’s only on the promotion menu, and indeed, the normal menu does not have this item reflected on their menu either. Nonetheless, I’d definitely return back to try their take on Australian cuisine for brunch.

Decent iced dirty matcha which packed a punch with the espresso. Personally would have preferred a slightly stronger matcha note to this, but it was stronger in terms of coffee than matcha in this case.

The ambiance and decor of the place was really chic and modern! Food was pretty good but a little pricy so perhaps more of an occasional brunch spot ! Truffle mac and cheese was little and not too cheesy so good for those with a smaller appetite but it’s $19 so… Coffee and dessert was decent but the staff were friendly and warm :)

The opera cost $11.90. I think it's expensive but I am also aware that it's the standard prices for operas plus it's quite difficult to make the different layers. I think it's a decent opera cake as I am not a coffee lover. The guy in the group likes it. So if you do love coffee and opera i think give this cake a chance. Not for me as I find it too pricey for my pocket. The matcha is ok. It's average. So far I think this place does coffee better. I didn't take the picture but the others in the group other flat white and another type of coffee. They seem to like it.

This is so delicious. Yum yum. The online reviews are right. This roll is large and moist and infused with the hojicha taste. The cream is refreshing and not cloying. There's also this sorta tea jelly in the middle. I didn't expect much because the pricing of this roll is also much cheaper at $7.90 compared to the other cakes in this cafe. I have tasted other hojicha rolls in other cafes that are priced slightly higher and still taste dry. This hojicha roll is such a nice discovery and I will definitely buy again the next time I visit this cafe.
