I don't think I've eaten laksa of this variety, at least not like this. It's so Malaysian ie it's so full-bodied while a little dirty. In fact the gravy and noodles were a bit pungent haha.
I had to order this because I imagined the soup to be so herbal. It turned out overly sweet, which gave me chills, but the wine was still apparent so it's decent.
It did its job. Especially for me who needs tea sweet. That bottom layer ensured that.
So tuaran is the noodle local to Sabah that I didn't know but kept running into. It's not far from other Chinese noodles yet has a unique taste and texture. This dish is also the signature here and was quite addictive, especially with the wok hei.
