Dark Chocolate Pudding ($8) Recommended by the friendly staff, this popular dessert is worth a round of applause for the rich dark chocolaty taste despite its unassuming appearance. If you are thinking of a jello pudding, it is not. The texture is closer to a moist and firm cake. A smart move on using frozen berries as they accentuate a sharp refreshing flavour. 😘 What made us wowed was the burnt butter on the side. The light flavour with a seductive buttery aroma brought all the elements of this dessert together. I admit, this is one of the best desserts I've enjoyed in months. πŸ‘

Banana French Toast ($12) [Muslim-Owned] This was highly recommended among some people on here, so it was only natural that I took the liberty of ordering it without any second thought. It's their Banana French Toast that sandwiches a layer of blueberry compote, and is lathered with a spread of tangy mascarpone, then garnished with finely chopped raspberries and strawberries. Finally, on the side, you have a coffee custard for you to drizzle on (or flood if you prefer) the centrepiece. 🍞🍳 The coffee custard made all the difference with this one. Before incorporating it into this dish, all you'll get is tang after tang, punctuated by mild sweetness. But after doing so, you'll realise how extremely sensible and breakfast-esque of a combination it is. The coffee flavour wasn't woody or bitter-potent like that of the black ones. It was understated enough to be able to click well with the wisp of sweetness. It enhanced the dish, needless to say, but without doing too much. I personally liked this! πŸŒπŸ“β˜•οΈ Yet, there's just something about this which didn't floor me. Perhaps I'm just feeling blasΓ© about the commonplace, ubiquitous brunch items. Or maybe I'm still smitten with a similar rendition of this that I've tried elsewhere. Whatever it is, I'll still stick to my guns and say that this was pretty good! (7.5/10) γ€°γ€°γ€°γ€°γ€°γ€°γ€°γ€°γ€°γ€°γ€° Oh, just wanna quickly say that I was really pleased with the 20% discount that is available through this app, first of all. πŸ˜› This sweet deal is among the handful that are waiting to be discovered. Soooo if you know of any thrifty hedonist, hint hint: tell them to download the revamped Burpple app pronto! 😎

Porcini Mac & Cheese ($17) This seems pretty pricey for comfort food, but given the things it includes, it's not surprising to see why you'll have to pay a little more for this. It's a hearty bowl of mac & cheese with seared scallops and shallot garnish and topped with caviar. This blew me right out of the water. It only took me three bites to know that it was the best one that I've had so far. It was perfectly seasoned, the cheese sauce was so rich, so creamy and so cheesy (it even had a fair amount of cheese pull). The scallops were lightly bouncy in texture, which I felt was the perfect choice because of how amazingly its texture meshed with the silky, viscous cheese sauce. The shallots may feel like a dubious addition, but they surprisingly added definition to the savoury flavours. The caviar though - I haven't had enough of it to critique it fairly, but if it actually was, then I'd be a little disappointed to know that the very delicacy that has always had so much hype is…overrated. πŸ˜• Still though, that won't change the fact that this was undoubtedly a stunner. Pulled Beef Bowl ($17) There is no time to waste! Thanks to Burpple Promotion, I got to enjoy 20% discount with a minimal spend of $40 at VXX Cooperation. The promo is valid on weekdays only and it is applicable on 1 May (Labour Day). πŸ€— Don't be fooled by this bowl of crispy kale. They are piled on top to keep them dry and retain its crispiness. I started digging in to find half of the bowl filled with tender and savory pulled beef, sautΓ©ed mushrooms and roasted baby potatoes. A hearty and very filling bowl of comfort food. πŸ˜‹

Simply could not resist these beauties, especially when there's a 1-for-1 deal (U.P. $3.20 each) with the #burpple app! These tea puffs were created in collaboration with @dulcetnstudio featuring flavours exclusive to @1872clippertea. It's hard to pick a favourite when they were all so yummy! . Floral lovers would gravitate straight towards the perfume-y Eternal Garden that had a delicious rose aroma. . For more robust tea flavours, I'd highly recommend the Milk Tea, or Matcha. . And for those who prefer something more subtle might go for the lighter Earl Grey. . Thanks @burpple for jio-ing! #burpplegotjio #choux #chouxpuff #dessert

Value For Money! When I came, I could not locate where the cafe is at exactly. When I finally found it, I didn't know where was the entrance door lol. I can overlook these both. So my friend and I ordered two sets of Butcher's daughter which cost about $14 for each plate? It consists of beef slices where we can decide on the done-ness. I chose medium rare and it was really good! Not dry but juicy and tasty! The fries was seasoned well and it's crispy outside and soft inside! I loved both the beef and fries actually! Salad was good too with the balsamic vinegar dressing! The scrambled eggs was cooked so well, better than MacDonalds or any other scrambled eggs I've tasted by far! The eggs can decide between scrambled and sunny side up as well. The lychee iced tea ($6) was just right as well. I had quite a wonderful meal overall. The ambience of the cafe was very calm and laid back. A good place for people who would like to study. Even the staff was friendly and helpful, there were 2 who was very courteous to ask about our take on the food and everything. It was nice to have staffs who are concerned about their service and food. The only thing I found it disappointing was the menu, they could consider providing more varietu of food choices.

For Halal-Friendly Weekend Brunches From the same guys behind Penny University, this Muslim-owned cafe in Tampines West Community Club draws the crowds for its comforting fusion cafe fare and affordable prices β€” perfect for family meals. With exposed ceilings and long wooden benches, its setting is industrial chic without being too in-your-face about it, making for really laidback vibes. If it's your first time here, go for the Butcher's Daughter ($14) on the weekend brunch menu (available on weekends, 9am to 5pm). The generous piece of seared sous vide steak, cooked well and served with fluffy scrambled eggs and crispy fries, makes for a tasty protein-rich plate. Alternatively, try the Moroccan Baked Eggs ($12). Mixed through with beef, the dish is flavourful, with a good kick of spice, and the sourdough on the side is made for mopping up all that delicious gravy. Tummies filled, sit back and sip on a cup of Jaffa Orange Mocha ($6) or the Spiked Muddy Espresso ($6.50) that comes sweetened with gula Melaka. Avg Price: $25 per person Photo by Burppler Dex Neo

Brownies, Peanut Butter Jelly Waffles Finally using the quote "true friends share calories" - drove one of my girl friends here for desserts; the brownies plate and peanut butter jelly waffles ($12 nett each) particularly. The former was essentially rich, dense, melt in your mouth chocolate fudge with surprise bites of burnt caramel (?); very indulgent so do not be fooled by its size. Paired off with a scoop of banoffee ice cream that tried to balance the richness of the 2 gooey chocolate brownie bars. The latter was slightly disappointing-factoring in how we were 3/4 filled from our brownies when it arrived. While the fruit jelly- jam over and around the waffle was appetising, I'd still classify this as forgettable waffles.

Chicken Fried Steak $21 The star of the dish was seriously the mac and cheese. Cheesy, creamy yet not jelat- one of the few mac and cheeses which have found the right balance. Steak was alright, gravy was solid, coleslaw packed a crunch. Sadly the soggy batter on the outside didn't do it for me. Other than that a great dish though!

Maximum Comfort! 1 for 1 deal on fried chicken? Sign me up! Love that Burpple now has a deals feature which alerts you to food deals! Had the Nashville hot πŸ” and buttermilk fried πŸ” ! Both chicken were well marinated, and tender even though they were thoroughly deep fried. Preferred the hot chicken over the normal one as it has a nice kick to it. However, the real stars of the night were the Mac n cheese and biscuit with gravy. The Mac n cheese was done just right with a good amount of cheese and cream that did not end up being too jelat! The biscuit was rich and 'fluffy' which was complemented very well by the savoury gravy. The promotion ends at 31 April, so better hurry up!

One Night Only (Nashville Hot Chicken and Chicken-Fried Steak) First of all, chicken-fried steak isn't chicken. It's actually beef. And it's actually a pretty thick slab of it, so it definitely fills you up especially if like me, you ordered 2 carbo loaded sides to go with it (read: Southern Cornbread and Biscuits & Gravy) The gravy is delicious and really goes well with the crispy steak. For the Nashville Fried Chicken, you have the option of either 2 or 3 pieces. With 1 for 1 mains in the month of April when you flash your Burpple App, it's obvious which one we went for. πŸ˜† Overall, a place with unique setting and offerings. Must go! #Burpple

Exactly What A Burger Should Be No-frills Cheeseburger ($18 for double cheeseburger) When you're here, skip the mains and go for their burger. It's perhaps the most authentic American cheeseburger I've eaten in Singapore - two cheese slices on each patty, huge juicy patties, soft brioche bun, and the classic tomatoes and lettuce. Sometimes, the simpler it is, the better, and this burger is testament to that ideal. Bless my arteries, but I'm already craving for it again. This was the best burger I've ever had.

Non Descript Back for another lunch set! Pastas for the sets change everyday so there's always something new. That day was my first (and definitely hoping for not last) encounter with this beautiful mentaiko pasta. Prior to this, my only experience with mentaiko was in mayonnaise which I liked, but it was mostly drowned by the creamy sauce. This pasta however, was generously coated with mentaiko and balanced well with the crunchy cucumber. It was savoury, salty and flavourful and had me slurping every strand with joy. Do take note that it might be too strong tasting for some, but mentaiko fans like me will surely rejoice. This was such great value especially since mentaiko can be very expensive and they definitely didn't stinge on the ingredient. Yum!!!!

Comfort Eggs This was so aptly named for I can hardly think of anything more comforting as a starter than two perfectly cooked and runny eggs mixed with (or rather flavoured by) mushrooms and chorizo and finally topped off with cheese. The only thing I can think of that can make this better is a side of well toasted bread to dip into the mixture. Luckily, we had also ordered the Burrata which came with bread so I'm a happy camper!

Angus Meat Ragu Pasta Affordable lunch sets priced at $12 are on the weekday menu but this meat ragu was sooo worth the +$6 top up. Pasta was well cooked and firm to the bite, but it was the ragu that made me wanna lick my plate clean at the end of the meal. Balanced with both beef and pork, the meat sauce was not overpowering at all. Instead, it was well balanced savoury goodness coupled with extra tender beef cheeks. I just had this a couple of days ago, but I'm already dreaming of going back for this again. And of course, to finally get my hands on the highly raved Burrata & the new Truffle Pig Ears.

Nestled in the heart of Chinatown is Yum Cha, an eclectic traditional Chinese tea house. I always rmbed seeing the adverts on TV as a kid and would always be tempted to go. 🍴 Anyway now in 2017, it has maintained its traditional tea house charms and still add on new dishes to keep up with the modern taste. 🍴 1. Black grouper served in hot stone. The black grouper is stir fried with a super aromatic ginger garlic sauce and served in a hot stone. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» 2. Mongolian Pork Ribs w black pepper sauce. Different from your typical black pepper sauce, this is slightly tangy and sweet because of tomato. A bit of a dish that's either you like it or not. 3. XO seafood fried rice. The rice was really well fried where each grain of rice is separated. The slightly spicy note of the xo sauce went so well w the prawns and scallops. 🀀🀀 🍴 This dishes are all available at yum cha now πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ 🍴 Thanks to Adam from @yumchasg for hosting us and @burpple for the invite! 🍴 #burpple #chinesefood #sgfood #singaporetourism #yumcha

XO Seafood Fried Rice [$18] I really appreciate it when fried rice is done well - not mushy at all but fluffy, the kind that you can get a nice bite of every grain of rice! Looks simply fried with eggs and studded with fresh cubes of prawns and scallops, the best part of this dish was not the seafood, but the fragrant XO sauce used to fry it all up. Along with the added umami-ness, the sauce gave a mild spicy kick which made it super appetizing although we were served this nearing the end of the meal. I'm sure I could have finished a bowl or two more then! This $18 portion serves 2-3 pax. A huge thanks you to Adam from @yumchasg for hosting us and @burpple for the kind invite! πŸ™†πŸ»

Salted Egg with Stuffed Scallop [$14.80 for 3 Pieces] This is another dish to expect from Yum Cha's upcoming Mother's Day Special Set Menu. A slice of scallop with a ball of prawn stuffing on the top and deep fried with salted egg. It's recommended to eat together with the piece of lettuce, which indeed helped to balance out the flavors. The salted egg coating was rather rich but we were just hoping for a slightly thicker cut of scallop. You can also order this ala carte at $14.80 for 3 pieces. Crunchy Fried Chicken Sandwich ($16) I had flown in to Park Bench Deli for an errand but flew out grinning from ear to ear because I had their Crunchy Fried Chicken Sandwich in my clutch! πŸ˜„ The moment I got back into my waiting cab, off went the wrapping and in chomped my teeth. The combo is pretty much a classic but you can trust PBD to do everything with panache. This means they use only thigh meat, sou vide-ing it first for tenderness before frying it to a loud crunchy finish (which somehow manages to not be oily). Swaddled with the chicken in the onion bread is a killer duo of cheekily spicy housemade slaw (it contains Peruvian green chilli sauce), cucumber and good ol' Japanese kewpie mayo. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is 🀀

Pork Knuckle Fritters ($18) This was super shiok. You get x5 very crispy deep fried pulled pork potato ball-like things dressed with sriracha mayo and served with a cucumber som tam. The batter of the fritter was what made it for me (of course, the tastiness of the filling and tenderness of the pulled pork also helped). They do work out to be $3.60 a fritter so... many small bites. πŸ‘πŸΌ

XYT Hokkien Mee ($16) I'm not usually a big fan of Hokkien mee because... I'm Team Black Hokkien Mee (πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ) and also the siapsiap aftertaste of yellow mee does not sit well with me. However, this was deliciousss. The use of thick rice noodles ensured it wasn't too starchy (and siapsiap-free) however, it was not as "wok charred" as described in the menu. There was a generous serving of large prawns & clams and the overall flavour had the right amount of prawniness. Prawness? I'm going with prawniness. Service was excellent, our hostess came over to give recommendations and check on the food. Also, the interior of the place is a sight to behold: lanterns, kitsch posters, old school telephones and booby art. πŸ‘πŸΌ I'd defo come back to try the rest of the menu.

Legit Steaks, Legit Prices 200g Black Angus ($22 nett) Totally worth the money with that gorgeously crunchy crust and that extremely flavourful sauce. If you're not full from this (which is probably the case), do order their truffle fries ($10), which boasted a generous portion of crispy straight cut fries, accompanied by what seemed like the same sauce that came with the steak. What I didn't like was that it came medium to medium well rather than medium rare. Perhaps I came on a wrong day, but I reckon that I would be back!

Beef Lovers Rejoice $99 for this beef platter, blowtorched right before your eyes. Accompanied with truffle mushroom sauce, garlic chips, sea salt and some tartar-mustard sauce (which I thought was a tad redundant), I would say that it's a pretty magical medium-rare cook on the beef and party in the mouth; with the right amount of fat, chewiness and charred-ness to it albeit not being a beef fan at all.

Raclette Without Attitude Following in the footsteps of that one place which shall not be named that committed suicide by social media, the Betterfield is letting you slide some golden sticky icky onto anything you so desire for an additional charge of $10. Of course, since it's the Betterfield, I had to have it on their exquisite Black Angus ribeye. While I was a little disappointed that the cheese had already hardened into a semi-coagulated blob atop the steak and was no longer runny liquid gold, there was no denying that it was still absolute cheesy deliciousness, being thick, creamy and slightly bitter as I stretched it out upon the steak. As for the Black Angus itself, it has upheld standards well, being tremendously tender and juicy at a perfect medium rare, while the exterior was charmingly crusted, imparting even more flavor and a mildly crisp texture to the steak, which was just chock full of heavy, beefy sumptuousness.
