The meats are great and we spent just slightly more than $100 for 2 - we ordered 2 meats (Wagyu ribeye and tritip) and a yukke (pictured), a drink and rice for each of us. Service from Audrey is however really slow and bordering on rude.
Atas Jap BBQ (~$50/pax) - and we can’t take beef ok 😐 meat was pretty good but really xiao ex. I’ll stick to Kintan steamboat buffet 😭 Service was great though!
House of Japanese Beef Steaks & BBQ located at CHIJMES!
Awesome beef ribeye cooked to perfection on top of traditional Japanese charcoal BBQ.
However, marinated meat (beef and pork) tend to be on the sweeter and slightly salty side.
Side note: Skip the steaks as they are sub par but go for the garlic fried rice, and oyster for a mix of varieties.
PS: You could request the staff to cook the bbq meat for you with your preferred doneness.
Verdict:
Food 7/10
Location 9/10
Ambience 7/10
Price 7/10
Service 10/10
OVERALL 8/10

You would have known that Rengaya is famed for their grilled wagyu steaks. But besides the traditional Japanese charcoal BBQ and steaks, they also serve a wide variety of side dishes, wines, and cocktails for a complete dining experience. One of which is their grilled prawns with mentaiko. Creamy, savoury, with lots of smokiness from the grill.

Rengaya at Chijmes, just across Raffles City and City Hall Mall, has revamped its lunch menu and it's very good and affordable.
🔸
They are the specialists in yakiniku wagyu. And imagine wagyu housemade into a juicy patties, topped with caramelized onions and mushrooms. To make it even more juicy and yummy, they incorporated more wagyu fats back into the patty. All these sandwiched between two very soft brioche buns.
🔸
Another popular lunch offering here is their kurobuta katsu curry rice. It's quality pork served with lots of Japanese curry, popular with Japanese dining here.

Sethlui recommended this and we came to try their new lunch menu featuring the wagyu burger. It's too jap for me, which lost the burger substance. Maybe I am just too used to eating American burgers. It's not too bad. Just not my cup of tea.
