A lovely time at Q-Wa Yakitori and Bar with Hoshay's plant based products. While plant based foods have a distinct taste that can be told apart from the meaty counterparts, Hoshay's dishes really hit the mark on flavour. The crispy chicken totally blew me away with its texture and taste. If not told beforehand, I would have definitely accepted this as normal chicken karaage. The Teriyaki unagi nailed the taste as well but the texture was just shy off the normal unagi. Still, both dishes really elevated my expectations for more plant based foods.

I'm excited to check out more of Hoshay's plant based foods! They offer an exciting variation of plant-based food, ranging from Sizzld (Western Series), Munchies (Finger Food Series) and Now (Ready-to-eat)! These foods are made of
ingredients that are rich in nutrition and anyone can enjoy them!

Thank you @hoshayfood for the invite! 😊

- A4 Japanese Wagyu Beef Stick
- Fresh Oyster with Wasabi Ebiko
- Shime Saba - Seared Mackerel Marinated w Vinegar
-Yakitori Skewers: Chicken with Leek, Chicken Skin, Chicken Wing, Chicken Meatball, Pork Belly Shio, Pork Belly Miso, Cherry Tomato and Bacon, Golden Mushroom Bacon, Quail Egg Bacon!
-Garlic Fried Rice

The highlight of the dishes was the Shime Saba! The taste was out of the world! There is a tangy citrusy taste from the vinegar and the meat was very sweet and juicy and fresh! Highly recommend to try this!

Oysters were super fresh, and the A4 Wagyu Beef Skewer was well seasoned and grilled to perfection! The garlic fried rice was very fragrant and served piping hot!

For the platter of yakitori skewers we got, I like how they were all perfectly seasoned! No need for additional soy sauce / chilli powder! My favourites are the Chicken Wing and Quail Egg Bacon!

A very cozy place to chill and relax while having tasty skewers! They have a wide range of sake , beer and whisky too!

Thought I could make a safe bet with this place since mum and I visited the Beach Road branch twice; but I forgot that this w was a few years ago (way before COVID). Sadly the yakitoris were less impressive as we’ve remembered it to be and my fresh water baby crab snack had shockingly shrunk in portion for the same price. Is this an exemplification of inflation?

A surprisingly good find, this Japanese Izakaya themed gastro bar serves a decent selection of grilled skewered meats and deep-fried items - perfect with a glass of ice cold beer or sake.

Best eaten while hot, both Q-WA Bar and Yakitori's Butabara/ Pork Shio ($2.90/per skewer) and Negima/ Chicken with Leeks ($2.90/per skewer - buy 2 get 1 free) were well-seasoned and not at all dry. For the grilled pork, you can really taste the simple flavours of the smoke-kissed meat as each piece was seasoned with just a sprinkle of salt to enhance the natural sweetness. The Negima, with tender bite-size chicken pieces finished with the savoury-sweet glaze also went really well with the sweet leeks and great with a bowl of rice. However, my eyes were set on their Pork Katsu ($12.90). Not expecting much, the breaded pork cutlet was pretty good with the light, airy and golden crisp coat. I too, enjoyed the fact that the pork had all the moisture locked in and was not too thickly cut but a little pricey for the portion.
