For over 2 decades, this humble stall has been drawing queues - thanks to their meticulous pot-by-pot preparation and fresh fish filleted or fried just moments before.
.
I typically order without milk, but the broth is sufficiently robust on its own, carrying decent sweet savoury salty flavour, a taste that appeals across generations.
.
The garnishes of crisp cabbage, crunchy garland chrysanthemum, juicy tomato, and soft silken tofu bean curd, combine for pleasant vegetal sweet savoury flavour.
.
The thick and chunky tender fillets of boneless mackerel fish, both natural and fried, hold meaty sweet savoury flavour, yum. I like it paired with fluffy white rice, and its mild grainy sweet flavour.
.
Queue stretches up to 45 minutes during peak lunch hour.

Make sure you clearly request for a $4 portion if you want the default size - we didnā€™t and ended up with the $5 bowl. Unfortunately, it was a pretty mediocre bowl. ā˜¹ļø Portion wasnā€™t big despite the top up, while the unseasoned fish slices had a hint of fishiness and werenā€™t tender. The milky broth was decently comforting.

The thick bee hoon is interestingly cut short (reminding me of the famous Katong laksa) so it's easy to slurp down. Sliced fish were fresh while soup was light and a tad milky (too much evap I guess). Overall a comforting bowl for a rainy weather if you prefer a clean-tasting fish bee hoon.

Pretty concentrated broth and flavourful aftertaste. The queue can be pretty long.

Really loved the fish soup here. The fried fish was very nicely fried. Topped with fried onions, it is perfect! Although a little too much milk for my taste. Overall still very good.
