Had this Chai Poh Hor Fun ($6.50) which is similar to carrot cake without radish but replaced with Hor Fun.

It comes with prawn and overall the dish is a unique and good experience

Creative dish, nice wok hey hor fun flavour and good change from norm. Oysters were fresh too! Like it!

Fast forward a few years later, he has shifted to Chinatown Complex and his signature dish is priced at $6 per plate. The first time that I have tried, I was blown away by the amount of wok hei and each bite has a certain crunch from the sweet savoury cai po. However, it was slightly underwhelming this time round as the kway teow was lumped up together and there was a drastic lack of wok hei and cai po. Nonetheless, it was still tasty but it didn’t hit the highs from the last time.

This new stall at Chinatown Complex has recently gained some media coverage. But the chef actually started his business way back at Empress Road Market but closed down quietly. And now he is back in action at this new place.

Only 2 items available from the stall, which is his signature preserved veg hor fun and prawn paste chicken.

For $6 per plate of preserved veg hor fun, I do want to warn you about the portion. I recommend you to get it as a side dish with your meal here. The portion could be very small on its own.

But I generally love the taste, the rice noodle is cooked with fluffy egg, shrimp and fried radish.

Preserved Veg Hor Fun (S$6) in Chinatown.

First time trying chye poh hor fun and it's surprisingly yummy!

Freshly fried upon order. It's hor fun with eggs, lots of chopped chye poh , a few prawns and pork lard. Definitely full of wok hei and the charred parts at the bottom is delicious.

Decent portion and ingredients; but the taste of the chye poh wasn't as strong as I had expected.

Would eat this again 👍
