Best koay teow Thng According to my husband. We like every ingredients in the bowl including eel Fish ball, meat slice, etc.

The shop was filled as early as 8am on a Sunday morning. Grab a seat and wait for the lady boss to take your order. The fish ball and meat was so good!

Was contemplating if we should get this, and glad that we went ahead. The stall is famous for their handmade eel fishballs and pork balls, but we preferred their comfortingly light broth and springy kway teow more. In their cheapest 5RM bowl, you’ll get 3 eel fishballs, minced pork slice and bits of duck meat. The broth is not the most flavourful, but the fried shallots and pork lard were a fragrant addition to the sweet base.

This was also the start of my kway teow soup craze in Penang - lots of good ones around and the fav so far is from a stall in Air Itam Market Annex Food Court! 😂

It’s slightly crowded as we waited a while to get seats and order at the place. The special thing about this place is their eel meatballs. Don’t expect the bouncy texture of fishballs but more of the tender soft feeling. Although the soup is rather bland which is disappointing, the point of visiting this store is for the EEL MEATBALLS!

Kway Teow Soup RM8.00 with eel meatballs
Meatballs RM5.00

This is the 4th KTT we've tried during the trip. They use eels to make their fishballs and I must say the texture and taste is really different, and has no fishy smell. The thin slices of meat patty in the KTT are handmade using minced pork. They were so soft and tender that we thought that they were made using eels too! This stall serves both soup and dry version, where the dry version is served in their own mix of black sauce.

Having tried Soon Yuen KTT (located behind Chowrasta), this soup definitely loses out in terms of taste. If you are curious about the eelballs, it's worth the try but I wouldn't come back the next time.

P.S. There is another stall called Tiger KTT just 2-3 shops away. Don't enter the wrong stall even though they serve pretty decent springy fishballs! You'll know you are at the right place if the shop is brightly lit.

Cost: RM 8 (KTT soup/dry), RM 5 (Fishball/Meatball Soup)

The texture was softer and less crunchy as compared to standard fish balls 😋. Noodles were smooth. You can also add some thinly sliced tender pork. Soup was rather bland to my liking. There’s also one koay teow thng stall besides Tiger Char Teow. However, this is not the stall. This original stall is located few stalls away from Tiger Char Keoy Teow.
