Price at $5.50. Not bad the portion just nice and the barley drink is good.

Never knew there's a dry version of the classic Penang Curry Mee, let alone taste it before. So curiosity drove me to order a bowl although I wasn't really hungry, and now I know this is one yummy dish. Asked for the yellow mee to be mixed with beehoon, and they came evenly tossed in a curry-based gravy with plenty, and I mean plenty, of fabulously crispy yet juicy pork lard and fat beansprouts! For the price, there's quite a generous amount of prawns, "taupok" and fish cake slices too. A small cup of curry broth was served alongside from which I sipped between bites of the noodles - quite a novelty actually. The fresh mint leaves and big red chilies used as garnishing gave extra oomph.
In my opinion, this $5.50 set is good value as it comes with a complimentary drink (the warm housemade barley was pleasant being only lightly sweetened), plus you get to enjoy your meal in air-conditioned comfort.

From Penang Chiak situated along Beach Road. This wasn't particularly impressive but at the very least was quite functional; particularly liked how the rice was not clumpy yet had a light tint of coconut flavour. Fried items could have been done better; or perhaps due to the photo taking it wasn't quite as crispy as it should have been. Chili was tangy and fiery. A good place to retreat from the CBD lunch crowd as they seem to be relatively new and not as crowded yet. They also serve an interesting loklok steamboat as well which seems worth to check out.

I must say I rather like it. The crispy bits of pork lard helped of course 😁 #veronicaphuaeats #PenangChiak #penangcurrymee #burpple #sgfoodies #sgfood #sgeats #instafoodsg #whati8today #BurppleTastemaker
