A simple question: in a country where mangoes are all sweet, how does a place stand out enough to be called the best?

Clearly it's the sticky rice and the coconut milk then. Coconut milk was very thick, rlly good. But what stands out is the sticky rice. The chew is perfect and it's slightly salty. There's this underlying flavour that develops as you chew, possibly from the rice being cooked with coconut milk. Nonetheless, it's absolutely delicious in a very humble way, and as a mango lover for a moment I was ignoring the mango and wanted to just eat the sticky rice on its own

Must try.At the same time I'm happy Singapore's best comes close enough

One of the most famous and quintessential Thai dessert, Mango Sticky Rice is a must-eat at Bangkok. Hence, my first order of business during my recent trip is to get my fix at Ningā€™s Mango Stand. Located in Sukhumvit Soi 38, a short-walk from Thong Lo Exit 4, the brightly lit stand which only operates at night was hard to miss. With 4 sizes available (S to XL, 80-150 baht), we shared a largeĀ (120 Baht) and even the generous portion was insufficient as it was so good.Ā A little disappointed that it didnā€™t deliver the contrast in temperature that I am all so familiar with in Singapore, the room temperature treat still ranked pretty high for me. TheĀ sticky rice and thick coconut cream were competent sidekicks but theĀ star of the show was the sweet sweet mangoes. Almost fiberless, the fruit was so juicy and there at Ningā€™s they serve each plate with the seed so you donā€™t waste any flesh.

One of them is Ning Mango @ Soi 38. I am so happy to see Ning again! She said many of you have actually walked to her stall with a printed copy of the blog post. I really thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is nothing about getting the hits, but I am really happy to be sharing delicious finds with everyone and am also happy to see that these hawkers' efforts pay off. While taste is subjective and some stalls I recommend may not be to your liking, I will try harder next time. Ning's mango sticky rice is super good and the standard has maintained even after 2 years. The mangoes were really sweet! If you are lucky, they do have good quality durians too! How to go there? Alight at Thong Lo BTS, cross the road and you will see it. Opening hours: 8pm ā€“ 2am
