Wallet-friendly Taiwanese stall in AMK heartlands, near Nanyang Polytechnic.

Ordered a simple bowl of Braised Pork Rice ($3.80) and addition of $1 for the braised egg. Though value-for-money set I’ll recommend to go for Braised Pork Bento ($5.90) which includes braised egg, Chinese Sausage and vegetables. Marinated and braised for at least two hours, the tender pork belly bit is flavourful with gravy dripping into the pearl rice below.

Other than their Lu Rou Fan, they have the Salt & Pepper Chicken ($4) another popular Taiwanese snack that we all love. Nice addition as a side but not much to shout about

A hidden Taiwanese food stall at Ang Mo Kio, the coffee shop wasn’t lots of people when I came in weekend lunch time.

As I was just looking for something small and simple, so I ordered the small portion of braised pork rice for only $3.80.

It is still a decent bowl with generous amount of braised pork on top of the rice. They are juicy and recommended to add the chilli as well.

Besides the traditional chicken rices and fishball noodles, it is almost a norm now to find other culture’s cuisines like your malas and burgers housed in the same location. With the travel restrictions, all of us are unable to go on our usual travel holidays, and with that come new opportunities for these new generation hawkerpreneurs. Moustache Lee is a stall in Ang Mo Kio, started by two friends, serving comfort Taiwanese food such as Braised Pork Bento ($5.90) or 卤肉饭, and Salt & Pepper Chicken ($4/$5). While they might not be comparable to the ones you can get in Taiwan, the taste has been slightly tweaked to suit the local palates and it is definitely a convenient manner to get your cravings fix when you are around the area.

Braised Pork Bento - it contains added ingredients of braised egg, vegetables and Taiwan Sausage so I don’t have to get those as sides.

Well done Taiwanese style meesua, loved that they dialed down the starchiness 🍜 I asked for extra vinegar hehe the stock was really good! The portion is quite big, but wish they were just a bit more generous with the shredded chicken.
