DIY JAPANESE TACO BOX 2/5
DIY MEXICAN TACO BOX 2/5

These were the dishes we tried:
1. Salmon Taco ($12.5)
2. Unagi Taco ($9.5)
3. Crab Taco ($11.5)
4. Carne Taco ($8)
5. Chorizo ($7.5)
6. Tuna Nacho Platter ($18)

The most impressive dish that won me over was the tuna nacho platter. I loved the akame tartare that paired with furikake and ikura. And Iā€™m not even a tuna fanšŸ˜‚ the salmon taco is the most popular among the tacos and it didnā€™t disappoint.

Akame Tartare, Furikake, Ikura, Guacamole Purple Tortilla and Seaweed Chips. A good twist to the usual Mexican nachos. Thought the blue chips works better instead of the seaweed chips.

Over at MEZCLA, the restaurant is currently having a promotion for the Kampachi Ceviche which is priced at $1 per slice, with a minimum order of 6 slides, and available from now till 31 January. You will get to enjoy cuts of the amberjack fish dressed in a refreshing citrus sauce and topped with pico de gallo while you order up a few of their signature tacos to share. At Singaporeā€™s OG handroll bar, RAPPU will be serving the Salmon Crudo, similarly priced at $1 per slice, with a minimum order of 6 slides, and available from now till 31 January. The thick salmon slices are brushed with a yuzu ponzu sauce and best paired with their cocktailsā€™ selections. These deals at MEZCLA and RAPPU are limited daily, so head on down early to enjoy the promotion.

Last but not least, the heavy hitters of The Feather Blade present the $10 CheatBurgers, available for lunch and takeaways only. This promotion will run from now to 31 Jan, and if you order it during dinner, it will come with double patties at $21, with limited quantities daily. I love this burger so much that I polished it clean, despite hopping over from RAPPU and MEZCLA prior. The CheatBurger pays homage to the classic cheeseburger with their signature beef patty that is fried in beef fat, topped with vegetables, housemade caramelized onion jam and the animal-style sauce on toasted brioche buns.

Helmed by the same people of Rappu & The Featherblade, @mezcla.sg is the latest kid on the Craig Road block - offering an Asian modern twist on Mexican tacos!

The quaint space is decked out in enchanting neon signages, reminiscent of the Mexican holiday - DĆa de los Muertos. I do like the dark bar vibes the place has got going - though at times it's actually way too dark to see the food in front of you.

Having enjoyed the handrolls from Rappu, I was excited to try this new concept of Mezcla. With a selection of both Japanese inspired modern tacos and a section dedicated to the more traditional Mexican fare - it was clear that I was going for the Japanese stuff.

The Salmon taco was first on the list, with Ikura, cured salmon, edamame refritos all in a crispy salmon skin taco shell. Now that's just ingenious I tell ya. Who knew fish skin could act as a taco shell!

Next up was the Unagi - filled with oyako tamago, Japanese cucumber and chipotle teriyaki all nestled in a seaweed taco shell. This was my favourite of the night and dang I could huff like 5 of these.

I'm really glad I got to try Mezcla, though the price is a tad high and it's difficult to be full from just a couple of tacos. It's also difficult to chill as the place is quite cramped and there's a dining time limit but for all it's worth - I loved them tacos and I'll go back again.
