Madam Leong serves Cantonese-Hakka style ban mian where her ban mian is towards the Malaysian-style and different from the others here. Each bowl of ban mian includes a sunny side up, beancurd skin, mushroom slices, braised minced pork, meatball and vegetables then garnished with fried shallots and ikan bilis tossed with dark soya sauce and homemade dried shrimp chilli 》$4.50
The noodles were cooked al-dente with a nice bite and springy texture. The braised mushroom and minced pork were flavourful. Mix them all together with the sauce for a savoury taste with a mild spicy kick.
Many have done a shout-out for this humble bowl of noodles and rightfully so. The chili pan mee stands out from the crowd with it's bouncy handmade noodles and that potent dried shrimp chilli. You don't even have to mix it well to feel the kick with a single bite. And you can see how they make the noodles fresh and into the
Plus, this is also the first stall that features the chewy beancurd skin, absorbing the sauce delightfully like a sponge; fried egg with the right doneness and the essentials ikan bilis and meat ball. Slurped this up in no time
Thank you Mdm Leong for making this heartfelt bowl of comfort ($4.50)
Ps. The chili can run out fast, and this store accepts paylah/paynow too. Hope the crowds come back to amoy soon.
Noodles didnt have a great texture and the dark sauce was q tasteless despite the strong colour, but the chili was pretty good. There's some caramelised onions contributing to the sweetness, and the dried shrimps came thru as well. Single handedly carried the other rather mediocre ingredients into a satisfactory bowl(Fried egg was nice too). The veggies were the same as bossi's but the Broth was a little flat
Been wanting to try this for awhile, especially hearing how the noodles are made fresh and with more egg so its more springy, and the story of the lady boss. The sauce was less salty than i expected, considering how dark it is. Good stuff :-)
Tried their braised meat and black fungus noodles for $5. Unique combination!
They used to be at Holland Drive and now relocated to Amoy Street, probably to get more crowd especially during the lunch time here in CBD.
The chilli wasn’t really kick as expected but their noodle was handmade and prepared daily.
