This bowl of ramen is absolutely delicious!! The broth is made of tonkotysu mixed with 3 different kinds of shoyu and it is served with charsiew, bamboo shoots and eggs(you have order this separately). Look at how thick the broth is! Just tell the person that you want to order Chuka Soba with additional egg. :)

Lebuh Kimberley (Kimberley Street) is a famous street in Georgetown, Penang for its delicious choices of local food & the stall selling kway chap is probably the most popular among patrons.
Having tried it myself, i can see why they are so popular. The duck kway chap here (served with all the ingredients in the bowl unlike our Singapore version) is so yummy.; the soup is very flavourful & they are also very generous with the ingredients (you get sliced duck meat, pig innards & braised egg etc). 😋

The savoury finale of the night before dessert – gorgeous thick cuts of rosy chateaubriand steak with ponzu sauce, perfectly seared, meaty as hell and well complemented by roast purple potatoes, a dab of wasabi and a dusting of salt.

A meal here starts from ¥10,000, but the food and experience is well worth the splurge.

It’s umami on overdrive when the luridly orange organic egg yolk from a farm in the Yamanashi prefecture is burst and used to lather the ridiculously delicious fold of juicy sukiyaki beef in.

1 Michelin star Oniku Karyu is a Japanese restaurant serving omakase in the kaiseki tradition, with wagyu appearing in almost every dish. It’s hard to choose a favourite course amongst all the stellar dishes but if I had to pick a favourite this comes close.

The burgers over at American-style diner The Great Burger are well... pretty great. With over 30 burgers to choose from, deciding what to order can put you in a bit of a dilemma, but fret not because almost every ingredient can be added on as an extra.

I pimped my burger with a fried egg and bacon, and it was uh-mazing. The combination of saucy bean chilli, thick-cut pork bacon, oozy egg and stretchy cheese almost burying a juicy patty sandwiched between pillowy, golden brown buns was immensely satisfying to chomp down on.

Hokkien Mee - The soup is fragrant, with enough prawn flavours to wow your taste buds. It comes with a few prawns. Add a spoonful of red chilli paste on top and give the noodles a good stir.

Betcha haven’t had eggplants in curry rice before?
G opted for their daily stewed meat and his was the boring plate of good ol sweet corn and eggs.

Ingredients overload for mine because I love variety. Egg, pork cutlet (freshly fried - super crisp and juicy!), eggplants and cheese. I totally forgot having added the cheese so it was a pleasant surprise when the cheesy goodness appeared, amongst the sea of thick, creamy, rich curry with mild spices that despite being typical of most jap curry, isn’t too sweet; and of course, pickles!
As usual, their rice is so good. So despite being so darn full, I finished it all up to the last drop of curry. 📍Oretachi no Curry ya x Ramen Koji Labo 俺たちのカレー家

Lovely bowl of Nyonya Mee Siam(vermicelli) topped with shredded omelette, fried chicken, beancurd puffs, julienne cucumber, fried shallots and anchovies. You can have them just as it is or poured in some tamarind sauce. I like to complete my meal with a Cham with coffee jelly. Mee Siam RM18.90

Located along Jalan Balai Police, Chinatown. This modern coffee shop with some retro furnishing is a good place to chill under the humid weather especially it is air conditioned and you’re able to savour some mouthwatering local dishes. One should not missed out their signature Nasi Lemak Ayam. That plate of coconut rice was fragrantly cook and I truly enjoyed every bits of it. Paired it with tender crispy fried chicken, Ayam Goreng tempeh, anchovies, boiled egg and a decent amount of sambal. I’m so contented and this place deserved their title as Best Malay restaurant in this year’s TOKL Food and Beverage award. RM12.90 per serving.

Bella by big, located along Lorong Kurau same row as Bakar. This small cozy restaurant offers good authentic Italian meals. Dish of the day, Guancia Di Manzo is a braised beef cheeks in Barolo red wine served with rutabaga a type of swede, sundried tomatoes and green peas risotto. That beef cheek was so soft and tender, nicely braised in red wine which reminds me of a French red wine beef dish, Bœuf bourguignon. RM 78 per plate.

Hard to practice restraint here when there’s a truckload of toppings to choose from. The sambal petai and sweet sambal is a must try. In the event that you find yourself broke and hungry, this ranks right up with just about any other cheap and good eats you have ever eaten.

Absolute food satisfaction and the wonderful balance of flavours from the smokiness of the meat to the freshness of the pickled radish makes it such a worldwide favourite.

For the BBQ pork versions, it’s just amazing how the Vietnamese is able to balance not only the flavours but also provide a myriad of textures in their dishes as you get the crunchiness from the vegetables, crispiness from the baguette and melts-in-your-mouth pork patties.

As for the meatloaf sandwich, the umami-ness from the liver pate with several cuts of ham and the addition of pork floss brings the sandwich to a whole different dimension. What a way to start off my Vietnam journey.
