Finally made my way down to try this non-conventional dish that lives to it's expectation. A thin layer of beehoon fried to crisp and simmered in the wok hei, not forgetting to find traces of pork lard that gives an additional enhancement.

The Liu-Sha trend seems to be making a strong comeback in recent salted-egg-croissants, and now, this. Gold lava of sandy salted egg held within a layer of glutinous purple sweet potato paste (mochi textured if you will), deep fried till the outer shell becomes so accurately crispy. This ingenious creation had me almost in tears after my first bite.
You'd never had guessed that here in the heart of Bugis, quietly lies the best darned salted egg yolk dessert. Ever!!

My personal favourite. I was eyeing on it, when I browse through the menu because who wouldn't like fried chicken and waffles. The chicken looked dubiously drenched in a lot of black pepper, and the golden batter made the chicken looked dry. But that isn't the case, the crisp exterior remain throughout the whole course of mad clicking of the camera. And right underneath its glorious batter lies very moist chicken, both thigh and breast. The maple syrup/sauce goes so well with the savoury chicken, with a small pepper taste. And that runny sunny side up, makes the whole experience so messy and delightful. Chicken and waffles combo is probably one of the greatest American food, merging the best of the both world in perfect harmony.

Our last & final stop was to have the famous Kim Keat Hokkien Mee (S$15) which easily feeds about 2-3pax, depending on how hungry you are!
When the claypot arrived, all we saw was massive waves of steam and listened to the bubbling of the gravy. 😌 Digging right into the mixture of yellow mee, thick beehoon, prawns, sotong, clams topped with fried three-layer pork, which soaked up ALL the gravy, it was bliss right at that moment.
This is a must try & it's happily tucked at the corner of a coffee shop. You will know whether you're at the right coffee shop based on the number of the tables that have claypots on it & people slurping their noodles away.
