Burpple Deals/ Eat Up
Being an American restaurant, itโs no surprise to find a wide selection of burgers on the menu. The ๐ฆ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ผ๐ผ๐บ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ฟ ($35.95) caught my eye. The two juicy grilled patties, Swiss cheese and earthy mushrooms formed a scrumptious combination that was flawless.
Playing tunes from my youth and decorated with rock n roll paraphernalia, @hardrockcafesingapore is a nostalgic place. And with @burpple 1-for-1 deals, Iโll definitely return more frequently!
I havenโt been to Hard Rock Cafe in ages and Iโm glad itโs still as fun as my last visit. More importantly, there are 1-for-1 mains on Burpple Beyond, so I can allocate the savings to the basket named Toto.
The ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ ($41.95) are a must-order. The fork-tender pork ribs, sensationally seasoned and slathered with BBQ sauce, were incomparably irresistible. So gargantuan was the slab that it would feed two small eaters. Even the crispy fries, crunchy coleslaw and smoky beans were excellent.
We also chose the ๐ฅ๐ผ๐รฉ๐ฒ ($8.50), which looks like a teardrop with rose petals on top. The rose and lychee flavours combined well, but the soft, sticky skin wasnโt to my fancy.
Although the tarts werenโt perfect, Iโm still inclined to return because of the 1-for-1 Tart + Drink deal on Burpple Beyond.
Fang Patisserie is a hidden gem. Located in a mall that isnโt near to any MRT station and doesnโt see a lot of human traffic, its tranquility provides the perfect backdrop for a quiet afternoon.
Among the gorgeous tarts on display, we picked the ๐๐น๐ผ๐๐๐ผ๐บ ($8.50), which looked like a tree without leaves standing on a patch of grass. The tangy yuzu interior tasted great, though the matcha was very faint.
The ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐น๐บ๐ผ๐ป ๐ข๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐๐ธ๐ฒ ($23.90) manifested milder flavours, but was no less delicious. A tender, flakey salmon fillet slathered with mentaiko was paired with broccoli, butter soy shimeiji and ebiko atop fluffy rice. Pour in the matcha bonito broth and you get a captivating, comforting dish.
With 1-for-1 mains on Burpple Beyond, Iโm returning for sure!
The Tiramisu Hero is known for serving tiramisu cakes in a jar, but I recently found out they serve pretty good main courses too.
The ๐๐ถ๐ด ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ณ๐ฎ๐๐ ($23.90) was a hearty affair. Scrambled eggs, pork sausages, bacon, hash browns, portobello mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and toasted sourdough combined to make this a wonderful dish. What stood out were the creamy eggs and earthy mushrooms.
The beverages we had ($6.90 each) were flawless. The ๐ฉ ๐ฃ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ ๐ ๐ผ๐ท๐ถ๐๐ผ (apple, mint, ginger ale), ๐ฅ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ถ (osmanthus, smoked oak, soda) and ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ฟ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฒ (sweet potato, ginger ale) were all very refreshing.
The ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ช๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ ($12) turned out to be our favourite. The pear was soft and juicy, while the alcoholic content was just right. The scoop of vanilla bean gelato also complemented it perfectly.
Likewise we werenโt enamoured with the ๐ก๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ($8). The flavours were rather mild and the individual components too โheavyโ, so the combination felt too surfeiting.
Even though the desserts werenโt Picolinoโs strongest suit, they still provided a pleasant end to the meal.
The most aesthetically appealing was the Unfortunately we couldnโt taste the pana cotta as it was overpowered by the Milo powder and Koko Krunch that adorned the whipped cream.
The ๐๐๐ฐ๐ธ ๐๐ฒ๐ด ๐ฅ๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ถ ($30) was a sight to behold. The supremely tender duck leg was unsurpassed, but I felt the red wine in the pasta was too strong. I can hold my liquor, but the red wine blanketed the pastaโs flavours.
The ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ ($22), resplendent in a golden hue, was very sapid and rich, so sharing is advised.
