Burpple Deals/ Eat Up

The combination of tender beef, tangy achar and crunchy long beans made the 𝗜𝗴𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘄𝗹 an outstanding dish.

Excellent Indonesian fare and I’ll definitely be back!

First time trying Tanamera Coffee and I’m impressed with the food. It also helps that there are 1-for-1 deals on Burpple Beyond.

The oxtail chunks in the 𝗦𝗼𝗽 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘂𝘁 were supremely succulent and the broth was very flavourful.

Finally, do give the 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘁 (a CNY special) a try; the combination of lime, mint leaves, grenadine, rum, beer and Sprite is sure to perk you up.

The dishes at CAMO are impressive and easily outscore the opposition. It’s a strong contender for Best Combat Unit… I mean, best cafe at SAFRA.

Coffee lovers should check out the 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁-𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲, a robust black coffee with the added creaminess of butter.

We loved the 𝗢𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗮, which was simultaneously comforting and refreshing.

We also liked the nicely-wrapped dumplings paired with a spicy sauce showcased in the 𝗠𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴.

The 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗣𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗽, exhibiting tender meat and crispy skin, was highly enjoyable.

The fresh prawns and scallops, lying in a pool of fiery gravy, made the 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗮 especially enchanting.

Another irresistible dish was the thick, meaty 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗸𝗼 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗽𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘁. Fried to perfection and supremely succulent, the protein went very well with the umami mentaiko sauce at the side.

Likewise the 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗢 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 (𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗻!) 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 is an alluring amalgamation. The smoked sausage, osmanthus honey-glazed bacon, baked beans, vine tomatoes, scrambled eggs and hash brown all delighted. The fragrant and crispy bacon, in particular, was very good.

The dishes at CAMO feature Western fare elevated with Asian ingredients, and some are even playfully named after Singapore Army lingo. A prime example is the 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗢 𝟱𝗕𝗫 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁.

5BX gives army recruits countless nightmares, but you will definitely have sweet dreams of this plate. Substitute the square bread slices of the humble Kaya butter toast with fluffy baguette, and add a sprinkle of desiccated coconut to the Kaya spread. The outcome is a mouth-watering masterpiece.

CAMO Café & Bar is a military-themed eatery that’s a joint venture between TungLok Group and SAFRA. Staff dressed in camo T-shirts, an Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) wall decal and lots of greenery certainly contribute to the army vibes. I felt that if the wait staff were decked out in Standard Battle Order (SBO), being able to whip out condiments and cutlery from its pouches, it would’ve been a more immersive experience.
