I've actually been itching to try the gorgeous bakes from @mrholmesbakehousesg ever since they opened their doors here - but the crazy hype and long ass queues was killing my buzz and I did not want to experience the anguish of being told something was sold out.

Seeing as the craze and hype have migrated over to Eggslut, I figured this was finally my chance to try Mr Holmes!

Apart from their cruffins, Mr Holmes has a wide array of deliciously filled croissants as well. Their Lemon Meringue won my heart over - with an intense tang of lemon curd that I simply adored. Dang, I'm missing it already.

Well, I'm simply blown away by the bakes by Mr Holmes and can't fathom why I didn't try them earlier! I'll definitely head back to try more - especially since they have a couple of new items on their menu and I'm sure they'll release some Christmas exclusives soon.

Nothing like @brotherbird_bakehouse's buttery flaky croissants to pick you up for a deary weekend.

Pictured here is their Rocher Croissant - filled with homemade hazelnut filling and topped with dark chocolate glace, toasted almonds and gold dust. It's so delish - no wonder it has made an appearance multiple times in Brotherbird's everchanging monthly line-up!

And hey, I'm getting a half of cutting croissants the right way to get proper cross sections for shooting!

Having heard and seen so much about the pretty viennoiseries of @lematin.sg , I knew I just had to try them for myself. Concepted by none other than Chef Matin, they have found a permanent home over at Raeburn Park.

I decided to make an order of their Le Matin Basics pastry box - which comes with:

◾Kouign Amann
◾Pain Au Chocolate
◾Lacto-fermented Plum Galette
◾Brioche Feuilette
◾Bread & Butter Pudding

Each bake was stunning, each flaky buttery pastry perfectly crafted. My favourite was their Plum Galette, an interesting combination of salty and sweet on delicious folded sugar crusted pastry. Their Pain Au Chocolate was everything I wanted a pain au choc to be as well, filled with just the right amount of chocolate and topped with a layer of chocolate icing.

While I've been eyeing their Pistachio Escargot as well - alas I've been too lazy to make the journey all the way to Raeburn Park just to get it. Not to mention their savoury Assemblage Box which is going at a whopping $58. The stomach says yes, wallet says please no. Of course, this won't be my last time trying Le Matin for sure - till we meet again!

Missing the delectable croissants from @brotherbird_bakehouse !

One of my favourites was none other than their Chendol Croissant - with coconut ganache, gula melaka gel and red bean filling. Most of the chendol fusion desserts that you find, tend to focus more on the gula melaka aspect and not on the other components and toppings - hence even though the inclusion of red beans in Brotherbird's Chendol croissant might seem like a minor detail but dang, it literally brought me back to the traditional ice chendol desserts you get in coffee shops and kopitiams. It's so so good and definitely a great representation of traditional Chendol!

It was almost a month long wait before I managed to get my hands on these babies from none other than @burntends.bakery.sg ! I just knew I had to order two boxes even though I had not even tried them - especially considering the limited open slots that stretched to a month later!

The flavours of the assorted doughnuts box are:
◾Vanilla Cream
◾Nutella
◾Pandan
◾Milo Dinosaur (Aug/Sept Special)
◾Lemon Meringue

Now these were just so good, it was hard to stop at just one. Soft, fluffy and filled to the T with delectable cream and fillings - dang I'm already thinking of getting more. While their flavours aren't the whacky craziness as compared to other bombolini stores - they're still really good.

My favourite has to be Pandan - topped coconut glaze, desiccated coconut and filled with a kaya-like pandan cream. Oh lawd. Their Lemon Meringue came a close second which is a no-brainer as it's one of my all-time favourite flavours. Vanilla Cream was super delish as well and came in third!

They have since announced that they're moving to a bigger location and I'm definitely looking forward to see what else Burnt Ends Bakery will have in store!

Now if only I could get a reservation for the coveted restaurant that is @burntends.sg itself!

Seeing as the craze and hype have migrated over to Eggslut, I figured this was finally my chance to try Mr Holmes! Here's what I got:

Cruffins:
◾Blueberry Hotcake [$6]
◾Pistachio Cream [$6.5]
Mr Holmes is famously known for their cruffins, which is a croissant muffin hybrid - though pretty much just in shape. Loving a high cream to pastry ratio, these were just amazing. The Blueberry Hotcake variation actually tasted like hotcakes from the maple cream. The Pistachio cruffin was simply delish as well and it's definitely became one of my favourites.

Croissants:
◾Lemon Meringue [$7.5]
◾Yellowpink [$7.5]
◾Raspberry Hibiscus [$7.5]
Apart from their cruffins, Mr Holmes has a wide array of deliciously filled croissants as well. The eye-catching Yellowpink is a Singapore exclusive, filled with mango curd and is crazy sweet and crazy good. It also gave me the most stress in regards to keeping it intact for shoots - that darn pink chocolate topping breaks so friggin' easily that it made my head spin.

Their Lemon Meringue also won my heart over - with an intense tang of lemon curd that I simply adored. The Raspberry Hibiscus was their latest flavour for the month and compared to the other two croissants I had - it sadly didn't make any lasting impression on me. The flavour was floral but lacking quite a bit in raspberries.

Donuts:
◾White Choc Macadamia [$5.8]
◾Blood Orange Creamsicle [$5.8]
I'm surprised I have not gotten sick of filled doughnuts yet. Mr Holmes also offers a couple of bioche filled bombos that are pretty good in their own way. The Blood Orange Creamsicle was unique and refreshing. White Choc on the other hand was kinda meh - when you compare it to everything else, sadly it can't compare.

Well, I'm simply blown away by the bakes by Mr Holmes and can't fathom why I didn't try them earlier! I'll definitely head back to try more!

Oof, the bombolini trend seem to have exploded recently haven't they. Well, @parkbenchdeli have got you covered with their creme brulee take on the creamy doughnut dessert.

Filled to the brim and oozing vanilla custard, together with torched crackling sugar on top, damn this brought me to Heaven and I didn't want to come back. One of the best bombolinis I've ever had for reals - the only thing that hurt more than taking the last bite would be the 8 dollah price tag. Park Bench, I'll see you soon again.

Finally got my hands on some @brotherbird_bakehouse croissants! These babies usually get sold out by noon which makes it difficult for me to get em' as I'm not a morning person - so thank the lord for pre-orders!

Got to try their August line-up which included:

◾Mentaiko Prawn Twice-Baked
◾Strawberry Pain Au Chocolat
◾Chendol Croissant
◾Rocher Croisssant
◾Green Curry Chicken Twice-Baked
◾Original Croissant

Their unique and local take on flavours are one to keep an eye out for! Highlights for me were definitely their Chendol and savoury croissants! Do check out their September Line-up which just came out a couple days ago now. Dayum.

◾Lox
◾Pork-gasm [$14]

I've always loved the bagel offerings from @twomenbagelhouse but I can never wake up early enough to go get some before they sell out. (I'm a night owl after all eh.)

They're pretty much the only bagel place around these parts that offer such crazy and wacky fillings - and I'm all for it.

My all-time favourite is none other than their Lox - with smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomatoes, capers, red onions and pickled cucumbers. Damn it's just such a perfect combination and bagels/smoked salmon/cream cheese are just meant for each other. I've see some people go with the Blueberry Bagel with their Lox and honest to God I'm so intrigued. (Sadly, my friends did not feel the same hence Blueberry Bagel, I'll see you next time.)

Also pictured here is the Pork-gasm - house smoked bacon, sunny side-up, avocado, tomatoes and mesclun, topped with smoked garlic aioli. While I was initially apprehensive of their bacon - it ended up as aother winner in my book. (Just look at how thicc dat bacon is.)

Two Men Bagel House - I'll see you again. Hopefully sooner than later.

The piece de resistance of Park Bench Deli is none other than their Pastrami Reuben. A towering sandwich of house-smoked pastrami, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and Russian dressing all packed between toasted sourdough bread.

This is all you could ever want for a meaty sandwich, with delicious smoky and savoury notes that paired well with a hint of sourness from the sauerkraut. The toasted sourdough added the perfect bite for a mix of textures and if you ever so please, there's a dill pickle on the side as well. No fries or added sides are needed it - I was pretty amazed that this single sandwich could fill my stomach up leaving just a little room for dessert [Yes that lone bombolini at the back.]

I do like PBD's deli vibes and concept, though the price reflects more of a high end cafe if anything. Oh well, good things come at a price don't they?
