Super famous fish soup place just opposite Bugis Junction with perpetual queues during mealtime. Ordered the fish soup without noodles (i donāt like it when the noodles end up soaking up all the soup) and I could drink this soup every day. So so comforting and I could tell that itās been boiled for hours and the milk I chose to add gave it abit of richness without overpowering its flavor. Fish was done well but couldāve been more generous with the ingredients. $6 for a bowl of soup and most side dishes are above $10 make it quite a pricey local fare/zichar stall actually. But that clearly doesnāt deter people from frequenting it.
The soup is supposed to be modeled after a cappuccino with the soup topped with brioche croutons and a black truffle foam and shavings. Mixed the foam in with the soup and the truffle really perfumed the soup. This soup was probably one of the best mushroom soups Iāve ever tasted, with the mushroom flavor coming through the strongest and not letting any of the other ingredients steal the limelight. The consistency of the soup was delightfully smooth and I couldnāt even detect any bits in the soup as I ate it yet it remained light on the palate without it being overbearing.
About $30-35 for the lunch buffet and $5 more for dinner. Comes with a large variety of meats and vegetables and side dishes and even desserts make this buffet real worth it. The most attractive thing about this hotpot over others would be the free flow XLBs which are HUGE. The soup is real flavorful and has a generous portion of filling but the skin is too thick for my liking. The meat section are all of good quality and they even offer seafood such as scallops and fresh prawns. Pity they donāt have that famous HDL noodle man or Iād choose this place over them anyday
The 3 soup option was quite a good deal and you get to choose which 2 soups you want as the main and which as the smaller soup. We got pork bone/tomato as the main and mala as the mini one.
All the soups were quite good, pork bone one being rich and flavorful, tomato was tangy and appetizing and the mala was spicy yet fragrant.
They had a sauce condiments table with all the different sauces + some side dishes and fruits and service was rly good all around.
