Was at Margaret Drive Hawker Centre area and decided to give Alimah's Kitchen a go!

Was pleasantly surprised by the nasi lemak here! Firstly, the price point is quite affordable! $3.50 for a nasi lemak set which has chicken wing, egg, ikan bilis and rice! Added a begedil for additional 70 cents. The begedil was served hot and crispy as we managed to catch the newly fried tray of begedils. Never had a begedil that tasted any better! The chicken wing and begedil were both the most crispy ones I have ever seen for a nasi lemak stall, as there is quite a lot of crispy batter! There is even crispy chunks given (like those that long john silvers give). However, I was not a fan of the crispy bites. It was slightly too fried for me as I was still having a sore throat with cough. But the fragrant coconut rice and spicy sambal chilli sauce with juicy chicken wing was more than enough for me. Pleasantly satisfied with the meal here!

They accept CDC vouchers here too!

Savour refreshing coconut shakes and more at @coconutonme.sg !

Count on “Coconut On Me” to give the best quality and service! Here, they only use 100% authentic fresh coconuts from Thailand!

They have a wide menu range of unique flavour drinks, from signature shakes, to fruity shakes, to fresh coconut juice!

Featured here are the following drinks:
-Avocado Coconut Shake
-Mango Coconut Shake
-Original Coconut Shake

The coconut shakes were filled with lots of chewy coconut meat! I recommend to opt for natural sweetness level (i.e. no sugar added), as the coconut itself was natural sweet enough! My top favourite coconut shakes are the avocado and mango!

Delicious nasi lemak from @mrandmrsnasilemak!

The deciding factor to determine whether a nasi lemak is good is the rice and chilli, and this nasi lemak from @mrandmrsnasilemak ticks all the boxes!

Love the fluffy fragrant coconut rice! What is even better is that they use basmati rice! I also like their sambal chilli which was on the sweeter side (though some of us may prefer a spicier chilli sauce). The ikan bilis and peanuts were crispy! What’s nasi lemak without chicken wing! I highly recommend getting the chicken wing set! The chicken wing was crispy, juicy and flavourful!

Featured here are the following food items:
-Chicken Wing Set ($5)
-Otah Set ($5)
-Kunning Fish Set ($5)
For all the sets, they come with sunny side up egg, ikan bilis and achar.

Besides the usual nasi lemak ingredients, they also have the following items to add-on (like caifan style):
-Curry Cabbage ($1.30)
-Begedil ($1)
-Long Bean ($1.20)
-Lady Finger ($1.20)
-Eggplant ($1.30)
-Roasted pork ($1.80)

Affordable and tasty meal! Check them out at Block 71, Seng Poh Road (fun fact: They took over the storefront from Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice)!

@cocoboss.sg has launched a new drink series! Presenting to you the new COCONUT ICE TEA series which was launched on 20 Aug! Super unique! This drink series is made by blending coconut with tea!

Featured here are the following flavours:
-Elderberry with brown sugar kanten jelly: If you are getting this brown sugar kanten jelly topping, I will recommend to get 0% sugar level for the drink, as the jelly was quite sweet itself!
-Lychee with Aloe Vera: I totally love this combination!

The drinks are super refreshing and thirst quenching! They are also good for those who are vegan or lactose intolerant!

Beside the above flavours they also have longan, peach, passionfruit or earl grey tea! For toppings there is also other choices such as aiyu jelly, coconut meat or coconut jelly!

Visited Cheval Chi Bao because they were listed on burpple beyond 1 for 1. First impression was mehh already right after enquiring with staff A what we could order using burpplebeyond. Staff A informed us the free item was for the mains only, and customers need to order a chicken/pork/beef dish that is at least $15.8++ value to even get the free mains. Upon hearing this, we were all ready to walk off. But decided later on to stay. When ordering later on, we got another staff B to come take our orders and upon trying our luck to enquire again, this time round staff B replies on what items could apply for burpple beyond was completely different from that of staff A! We could in the end order two mains using 1 for 1 burpplebeyond with staff A. While i understand restaurant can have diff practice for burpplebeyond, this should be stated clearly in the app if they want it that way. In addition, the staff should also be giving the same replies on how the 1 for 1 should be treated. So because of this, our appetite was already spoiled even before the meal came as we were still uncertain throughout our meal whether the 1 for 1 offer will be granted since different staff said different things and we werent sure which staff had the final say over payment matters lol 🙄

Anw this was what we had
- signature truffle fried rice ($13.80++): while special and unique, my only gripe was that there is no meat or seafood in it. Basically just egg fried rice with truffle taste

- seafood fried mee sua ($13.80++): was surprised by the amount of seafood in this. There was squid, prawn and slices fish! Tastes like xin zhou fried beehoon! Would have preferred if sambal chilli was given! But at this point, we were already trying to avoid unnecessary conversation with the staff and just wanted to faster finish eating and leave

So if anyone intends to dine here using the burpple beyond 1 for 1 to get two mains (rice/noodles etc) dishes, best to clarify before heading down.

Finally visited SweeT.Rex to try the cheapest soufflé pancake in Singapore! It now costs $5 for 2 pieces (prices increased since 10 Apr 2021. It used to be $3 for 2 pieces)

Ordered the original soufflé pancake with additional vanilla ice cream ($1.50 per scoop). The queue wait on a PH lunch hour time was almost 30mins! You will be given a buzzer to wait for foe the food!

The soufflé pancakes were super light, fluffy and jiggly. Tastes good (as good as fluff stack’s standard - my second most affordable option for soufflé pancakes in Singapore). The soufflé pancakes itself was quite big/tall. If you had a very filling lunch (which was what we did), a plate is even good for sharing between 4 pax!

📍Depot Road Zhen Shan Mei Laksa
Alexandra village food centre (01-75)

Second time eating the depot road laksa! It is now longer presented in claypot style! (They have also covered up the claypot wording on their signboard haha). The queue wait on a PH lunch hour was really long. Almost 30mins wait as each bowl took quite long to be cooked.. peeked in to see how they cook the laksa and realised they actually have two diff broths served in one bowl. One a more diluted light soupy broth and topped up with a thicker laksa broth. The ingredients were cockles, Taupok, fish cake, prawns and shredded chicken! For someone who’s doesn’t eat taupok and cockles i am glad that there are so many other ingredients for me to eat still! Overall a nice bowl of laksa (although my parents tried it and didn’t like it). I thought the price was reasonable (small bowl for $4 and medium bowl for $5). If I compare it to 328 Katong laksa, I think that’s almost $5+ for a small bowl

Because it is only open in the morning + it is at the tiong Bahru area not really near the MRT. We ordered one portion of squid, one portion of prawn, one meatball and two servings of fried pork chop.. and the total bill was $21+ for 2 pax! 🤭 (But ok la, since we had two seafood items and the prawns was hugeee!). We liked that the meatball had chestnut bits in it. I liked that the pork chop with tomato sauce didn't have fats in them! The curry here is not really the hainanese curry kind, but tasted slightly Indianish. Queues started forming at about 1130+am on sat. #burpple #burpplesg #loohainanesecurryrice #food #foodiesg #sgfoodie #whati8today #8dayseat #vscofoodie #iweeklyfood #foodporn #foodstagram #vscofood #foodphotography #sgmakan #sgmakandiary #sgfoodstagram #singaporeeats #exploresingaporeeats #exploresg #whatsgoodhere #sgfoodie

Mom finally learned how to use google map to locate herself here. But she thinks the price of the egg tarts are too expensive, so the first and last time she is gonna buy them! ($1.90/ piece). Tong Heng also recently renovated and this is their new box now! #burpple #burpplesg #tongheng #tonghengeggtarts

So brought the family all the way to Queenstown for this for early father's day celeb last Thur ~~ (it was already super crowded on a normal Thursday night) #burpple #burpplesg #kengengkee #kengengkeeseafood #kengengkeeseafoodrestaurant

🙊 Squid ink spaghetti (comes with crayfish, prawns, squids, clams and scallop) and bonito pizza (ham, mushroom, bonito flakes and tonkotsu sauce). The squid ink was so black we couldn't see what we were eating! But the sauce for the spaghetti was tasty! The pizza dough was made in house, and was crispy thin! 👍🏻
.
Chapter 55 is now listed on burpplebeyond! Finally we can enjoy the 1 for 1 on weekends and at nights (chapter55 has been having weekday lunch 1 for 1 promo for the longest time!! But it was always so far away from my offices 😅)#burpple #burpplesg #burpplebeyond #chapter55
