Always had a soft spot for rosti and was introduced to Buddy Hoagies by a friend one fine day, never went back to craving Marcheâs overpriced rosti ever since. Ordered the Rosti with Grilled Chicken ($10.99++) and was pleasantly surprised to see the chicken come in huge portions! It was very well grilled, had that perfect smoky, charred taste to it. I went on a weekday during lunch time as well, so it came with a free soup & drink!
Iâd highly recommend the Soft Shell Crab Salted Egg Wafu Pasta ($23) â it comes in a huge servings of soft shell crab and salted egg pasta, and very tasty as well. Would order it again without hesitation. However, I wouldnât recommend the Chili Beef Nachos ($18). They came out pretty cold and soggy instead of hot, toasty & crispy.
Great shopping snack â Mega fries ($5.70), where you can choose up to two flavours, which is great for sharing if youâre in pairs. If there are more people around, I suggest getting the Giga ($9.90) or Terra ($10.90). Each fry is crispy and thoroughly coated in seasoning. Great alternative to Macdonaldâs shaker fries if youâre yearning for more than just seaweed. Iâd recommend getting the sour cream & onion, as well as BBQ â theyâre super addictive.
The carbonara ($5.90), though not the best, is definitely more than decent and very worth it, considering itâs low price. Big eaters can order the chicken chop ($6.90) on top of the carbonara. Request for the mushroom sauce to go with your chicken chop â it emits a hint of truffle that hits the spot. What I do NOT recommend, is Da Bomb ($13.90), a beef/chicken patty (of your choice) with bacon & bbq sauce, wrapped in what seems like pastry puff (iâm not entirely sure about this). It was still worth it for its price, considering youâd probably have to pay $20+ or this at a typical cafe, but it wasnât satisfying and Iâd save my pennies for the chicken chop instead. Truffle lovers can also go for the truffle fries ($4) for a cheap thrill. Again, not the best, but not the worst, and extremely worth it given its low price, and would come back for more. And yes, you CAN taste the truffle flavour without trying to. For $4, thatâs good enough for me!
Reasonably priced at $10, I wonât hesitate to admit that Lolaâs has the best truffle fries around. Though the bowl looks small, the fries actually turn out to be a lot. And unlike many other âtruffle friesâ, you can actually TASTE the truffle flavour without having to try, instead of just smelling it. They also pile on a ton of parmesan cheese which i love. Itâs really the perfect accompaniment to mains like the angus beef burger. Honestly, i go to Lolaâs just for the truffle fries ALL the time and order nothing else. i always leave full & satisfied.
Grasso Coffee offers 3 small plates of mains for just $11.50, which is super worth it in my opinion. The small plates arenât even that small â theyâre probably more than half the size of what you get at any other cafe AND the dishes are high quality. The baked rice is really filling despite looking tiny in size, and VERY creamy. Iâd recommend this for those who thinks that 18 Chefsâ baked rice is too dry. If youâre going with a friend, you can easily share the 3 small plates and be full. If you and your friend have small appetites, go for the 2 small plates for $8 instead!
