I rejoiced at the thought of being able to eat halal Korean food and I was not disappointed at all. Although this place was a little far to get from the Anguk station (Exit 1), I think it was worth the walk (we walked through the famous alley in a lot of Korean dramas!). The food definitely made up for the long walk. The owner was also friendly. He is a Korean Muslim. Must visit. Must return. I myself returned twice on the same trip.
For 10 sticks of Australian lamb skewers, I thought this was worth it. If only I went here more than once. It was a good restaurant, really. I also had the kimchi jjigae, and paired with a bowl of rice, I was in a good mood after. It would be a waste not to go crazy on the lamb barbecue but knowing that I wouldn’t be able to finish it, I opted for something less. I was right, I was full after this meal. Full and definitely happy. Definitely making a trip back here on my next trip to Seoul.
Dongmoon - the restaurant for Asians in the middle of Nami Island. It had everything Asian from rice all the way to their noodles. On to the taste, I have tasted better beef noodle soups in the past and this was just meh to me. It wasn’t as spicy as it looks and although it filled me up fast, I didn’t quite enjoy it. Would I order this again in the future? Most likely no.
Ended up in a mall on a rainy day and there was no sight of a halal place to eat except this restaurant. It was full with Koreans tbh, but glad we managed to score a seat - there was a line right after we sat down, talk about lucky! I shared the couple set menu with my sister and boy, we were full! It had chicken and lamb and beef, and fries and soup and drinks.. definitely worth the Won spent. The only Turkish restaurant I have ever been to but definitely one of the best restaurants in general I have ever been to in the world.
I had to cure my iced cherry blossom latte cravings and since I couldn’t find them in Starbucks, I opted for a cheaper version - Ediya! I love Ediya, it’s my favourite coffee shop in Seoul. However, I thought Ediya’s version was a bit too sweet for my liking. That, and Starbucks’ version wasn’t pink.
My first ever bibimbap in Seoul. I remember it wasn’t as tasty as the one I had from Qtpots back in Malaysia (follow them on Instagram!) but I was hungry so I had no choice. If possible, I don’t really want to go back to this restaurant. It is expensive and the food is less than mediocre.
I forgot the name of this stew, I also forgot the price but I vaguely remember it wasn't as nice as the one I had in Itaewon and it was also more expensive. The only plus point was that it was about 3 minutes walk away from where I stayed. But it was Halal and Halal Korean food was hard to find when in Myeongdong so this did it, at least. 🤷🏻♀️
One of the best Halal restaurants in Seoul I have ever tried. Then again, I haven't tried a lot of them 😅 dalktoritang is basically braised chicken spicy stew with potatoes and vegetables. I didn't enjoy the chicken so much as there was less flesh than there were bones, but the stew on its own was definitely tasty. Paired with rice and the different types of side dishes, I feel that it was definitely worth it to pay ₩10000 for this.
I have been wanting to try this but it takes forever for them to reach Malaysia, so I jumped at the opportunity to try it in Seoul. It feels a little expensive but it can be shared with two people if you are a light eater. It has tons of meat (mine was combo, so that was chicken and lamb if I remember correctly). It also has some rice and bread and some vegetables and the sauce is just 😍 I'm out of words.
Another one which I spent money on everyday. I could get the normal coffee from Paik or something but I had to get this as it is only available in Northeast Asia during spring. If you are ever in South Korea or Japan during spring, you need to try this at least once. It is quite expensive than the usual coffee you can get all around the world but this deserves to be tasted by everyone 😍
I forgot how much this costed as I had it way too many times and at different prices every time as I chose different combos all the time. Some days I felt like I might be cranky so I ordered coffee with it. Some days I was alright so I got the normal combo. Regardless, it was good anyway. Then again, it was the only burger from McDonald's South Korea which I could eat as it was seafood-based.
This was another one of the street food I keep going back to. Totally recommended! Well yes, it was probably considered expensive too but it was - you guessed it - good. I loved it and I definitely miss it so much.
