Cafes to go back toooooo....
Good food and conversation in a cosy ambience amidst lush greenery feat. the shrimp laksa tagliatelle ($19), which was light (not jelat at all) with a tingly spice that slowly builds up. My favourite component was the dried tau kwa (fried beancurd) chunks that added a certain texture + dimension to the dish. The duck confit pappardelle ($19) fared even better in all its creamy and fragrant goodness (shoutout to the red coconut curry) with a hint of sweetness, although I would've liked sweeter roasted pumpkin, and for the duck to be less salty.

Take me back to weekends with this shakshuka ($19) from Nosh โ Two baked eggs, with the yolks still wiggling and ready to flow with the merest suggestion of contact with my fork., red peppers and tomato sauce, generously sprinkled with goats cheese and topped with several eggplant fritters.
Good morning everyone! Saturday mornings are my favorite times of the week ๐

This did not turn out like anything I'd expected. But I am not complaining!
The scrambled egg (I asked for the yolk to be included because by right, this is made with only egg white) was a small, neat, slightly-flattened ball of moist fluffiness. It came surrounded by a lush "forest" of sprightly kale, sweet potato leaves, crisp sweet pea, crunchy asparagus and broccoli. The kicker though was the finely-shaved Parmesan and lemon zest crumbs. Those, along with the add-on of grilled "chilli" chicken, really upped the feistiness of the entire dish.
Huge crispy buttery croissant and very creamy scrambled eggs ($8.50+).
Loved them so much we added on another ๐ณ ๐๐๐
Had the kimchi flatbread ($16) which came with grilled back bacon, pork bratwurst and sunny side up eggs all smothered in a flavourful, mildly spicy house-made sriracha sauce (kinda like a spicy hollandaise?) and topped off with pomegranate seeds and pea sprouts. Felt that the kimchi was a tad too salty, along with the bacon + sausage so thank goodness for the eggs and pomegranate which provided a nice sweetness to balance out the dish (a more generous sprinkling of those seeds would've been perf).

Had this meal after a tiring but fun hike along tree top with @cheeechia, trying to be fitspo and all ๐
Braised ox cheek, truffle mash, pickled vegetables

Woahhh the truffle mash is fragrant and yum. The ox cheek is tender but could be better if its even softer where the meat would jux fall apart....the beefy taste is not overpowering. A little more gravy would be awesome!
Pickled vegetables (carrot & raddish) erm not really my kind of food. Its addition was probably there to hlp with setting thy palate. Braise them with the beef and i will gobble it all.
All the right combo of essential elements of the food pyramid, the carbs = sour dough setting the base, proteins = eggs, bacon and pulled pork and veg = arugula. The stewed pulled pork is all juicy, savoury and tender which binds all the elements together. You would by now realized my food pyramid is kind of skewed, but when it's so darn good, everything goes.
It almost sounds or looks like atas chye-png bowl and well such grain bowls are probably a staple these days in cafe to have their rendition of our hawker stall's economic mixed vegetable and rice on a plate! I was drawn to ordering this because of the grilled miso egg plant. And boy I wasn't disappointed, except that it should come in a slightly bigger cut. The white miso is torched and complements the eggplant's otherwise tasteless flesh. Comparing to the other items on the menu this is probably for the small eater. Well, don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with bowl, mushroom and tomatoes were well sautรฉed, kale was kind of air-fried to a nice marinated crips. Stir-fried chicken chunks were satisfactory and savoury. Corn was a must giving both the balance of flavour and substance, as the grain base used was quinoa, which was nothing short of tasty but was only a really thin layer at the base. At the end of it all, it might well be the case of too good (hence) too little.
Salmon with soba ($18+)
With my report from health screening telling me my total cholesterol is 259, salmon, mushrooms, soba I'll eat you!
Yummy and good for me, sans the egg yolk ๐๐๐
Coffee, lime tart and tea were great too!
Full house on a weekday lunchtime, at a not-so-accessible place... and now I know why!
