I remember the last time I ate at Botak Jones was nearly 15 years ago. Elate at the resurrection of brand and opening of an outlet in Clementi area again!
Got myself the fish & chips but swop the default side dish ā Cajun fries to salad instead [itās not for me! I got to munch my fries on a separate dish]. Digging the enormous slab of dory fish thatās incredibly crispy as well as the addictive, spicy fries.

And Iām happy to discover a fried Hokkien mee stall thatās located at an ulu old army camp along Jalan Bahar road, which has the elusive āwok heiā [a.k.a. smoky flavour] with chunky slices of savoury sio bak [a.k.a. roast pork].
Itās so shiok and I was salivating over it together with an army of houseflies that I had to shun away throughout my meal. š

Finally tried the fried rice from King of Fried Rice! We queued and waited for close to an hour. Really enjoyed the generous amount of crab meat piled on the rice as well as the tobiko which gave a nice, crunchy texture to the dish. And yes! There is a subtle wok hei [a.k.a. smokey aroma] in the fried rice too. āš»
Hooray, dining in to resume from 21 June! Meanwhile, Iām happily enjoying a comforting bowl of seafood abalone congee with a raw egg at home. Their version of congee is smooth, silky and packs with flavours from the braised abalone & mushrooms, cuttlefish, sliced fish, fish maw and prawns. ā¤ļø

This is definitely a binge-worthy food at the š of my list. Their tightly wrapped popiah is stuffed with generous ingredients including turnip, garlic, crispy bits of fried flour, peanuts, lettuce, beansprouts, eggs and sweet sauce.
I simply ā¤ļø the crispy bits and crushed peanuts which gives a burst of crunchiness to it!

Takeaway from @thecarvingboardsg. Am thankful that my favourite food is still available for takeaway and delivery during this Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) period. Despite the prolonged period of time to bring the food home, Iām surprised that the flavour and texture (especially its soft boiled egg and pasta) was not compromised.

Ordered this delish chewy-chewy mee hoon kueh [dry] with a heap of ingredients such as marinated minced meat, braised mushrooms and ikan bilis [a.k.a. fried anchovies] accompanied with an addictive black sauce that we much loved. š„°

The pork satay is simply SHIOK and probably the best I have ever had! The tender grilled meat with charred bits has a sweet coating and delightful strips of fat between the meat that just melt-in-your-mouth. We are already looking forward to our next meal here!

Okay, we waited for a good 15 minutes for this plate of salted egg yolk fish skin to be served. But it was well worth the wait! Freshly fried upon order, the strong savoury aroma of salted egg yolk with the crisp crunch of fish skin is so gratifying. One thing for sure, once you tried KEKās version, you wonāt be going back to the pre-packed ones anymore.
