Siang kee traditional crystal bun
01-12
What 🥳?
Purple sweet potato and yam crystal buns ?
Simply unheard of .
These were so moist , not too sweet and the skin was thin .
Skip the savoury ones and go for the sweet ones .
Even Milo can look so good 😊
I like the drinks made by cafe O - especially their Kopi and tea
Always consistent always good
Life’s simple pleasures
Simple is happy . Happy is simple.
Freshly made pancake with a crunchy and creamy sweet and savoury peanut filling and a hot soy milk .
These just something different about Mr bean’s peanut filling - it hits both the sweet and savoury notes, it is both creamy and has chunky bits of roasted peanuts . Almost molten when the pancake is not and freshly made - it Oozes out .
You don’t need a lot to be happy.
Having been a resident of the Ghim Moh precinct and not having been able to try this infamous roasted meat shop because of the long queues has been my regret for the past 2.5 years .
Finally got my chance on Friday and boy - it was good !
Old school roasted meats - reminiscent of the char siew rice that I had during my growing up years.
Well charred meat with no porky smell , well seasoned without being too sweet.
Excellent .
My mum’s a Hakka and I love everything hakka -
From yam abacus seeds to “ soon ban” - the Hakka style of soon kueh .
I love the authenticity and the simplicity of the Hakka YTH here .
Just fresh real food and real flavours .
The chilli is a must .
Always consistent , juicy and generously wrapped with bursting ingredients. The homemade chilli and fried crispies just elevate this already 10/10 popiah .
Only handmade popiah skin is used -
So you don’t get that crap machine made skin .
It’s the only place that I get my popiah cravings settled these days .
No one does it as good as them - a really nostalgic place since my JC days .
Crispy skin and moist fillings .
A surprise egg hidden in the puff .
I like the puff wasn’t greasy at all 🥰
3 dollars set with Milo :)
Yums to the Cheong Cheong fun in this fuss free eatery specialising in curry puffs .
Good homemade sambal and not so sweet black sauce .
From a stall named “ shui kway “ selling handmade traditional rice cakes .
While the rice cakes lacked in texture ,
These handmade ondeh ondeh were the stars of the day .
Had an extreme craving for black carrot cake this evening - must be the weather .
But I shudder at those that are cooked too sweet so as a precaution , I asked for less sweet sauce.
Very very impressed by the execution here - what a pleasant surprise !
So glad that this stall operates till the evening 😜
Crisp morsels covered with a fragrant black sauce and a Generous amount of garlic , Chye Poh and egg.
I asked for more homemade chilli on the side and it was so addictive !
A must get for morning brunch for a savoury treat.
The accompanying curry and potato fillings were a little more salty than usual but nonetheless delicious .
Glad that the tangy taste is more pronounced now and thosai having more “ body” than my last visit .
Happy is a woman who is well - fed 😍.
