SG Hawkers

A bottomless bowl of seafood goodness, with trove of batang fish, clams, squid, lala, minced pork, tofu, prawns, crab and even a lobster! Really comforting and satisfying dish for the price. Not the most accessible place to visit by public transport but I wouldn't mind traveling all the way down again for this.

Good, old bowl of prawn noodles for the weather! Prawn & Mee is helmed by two young hawkers who previously started off with Plum & Rice at the same Bedok outlet. They ran out of the dry version by the time we visited at around 12pm+ on a Sunday morning. Favourite part of this dish would definitely be the prawns, which is notably bigger and fresher than the ones usually found.

The prawns were perfectly fried and the shell was so crispy, you could literally eat them straight without peeling it off. 3 pieces prawns at just $2, I'm sold!

Don't expect a whole lot of crab, but it was definitely sufficient for me to enjoy it with the salted egg yolk dip!

From the founder of Saveur, comes Taste Affair - a hawker stall selling western-fare food at the heart of CBD. Tucked at the corner of the food centre, they actually serve up a wide selection of pasta dishes. Was recommended this as a first-time customer and it definitely didn't disappoint!

When you only have one item on your menu, it better be damn good and it sure is. Sliced wagyu beef stacked in layers over Japanese pearl rice, drizzled with homemade yoghurt sauce and topped off with a perfectly poached onsen egg. This is why amoy street is one of my favourite hawker centers around!

I especially like how the dish was on the moister side but still retains the wok-hei flavour. Not forgetting the pork lard, which was added to give it an extra crisp! Expect long queues throughout the day but it is definitely worth the wait.
