It has been a Long time since I last went somewhere far for lunch. Decided to make my way to Amoy Street Food Centre. My first impression when I went there, was that the number of people eating there was insane, I guess it was because of the office lunch hours(*Tip* come at around 1.30pm, where the crowd dies down abit). I went to Grandma Chili Ban Mee to order their popular dry chili ban mee, $5. There was quite a long queue in front of me, I had to wait quite awhile before my turn. I requested for extra Chili as I thought that it would not be spicy for me. When I had my first bite of the noodles, oh my the noodles were so chewy, it matches the Chili so well and it was so delicious. The best part of this bowl of noodles was the chilli, it was fragrant, packed a huge punch of flavour, I continued eating and enjoying the fantastic combination of the noodles and the seasonings. Unknowingly, I had finished the whole bowl. It was so good. Overall, I would come back again for this bowl of delicious goodness.

Saw a Long queue at this stall and decided to give it a try. First impression was that the meat look perfectly braised and the Kway chap look smooth. I had my first bite and oh my.. the Kway chap is sooo delicious! It was sooo smooth and the soup was so flavourful. It could totally have the Kway chap alone without any meat. The meat was quite tender and the intestines were braised till it soaks up all the flavour of the sauce. Overall, I would come back for this Kway chap again!

I wasn't sure what is nice in food republic at 313, therefore I went to research. Found out that this stall has quite a number of good reviews and was very interested in giving it a try. When I first saw the dish, OMG.. the portion was extremely huge!! They were soooo generous with their beef and noodles!! The noodles were very springy and has absorbed the flavours from the broth, making it super flavourful. The broth was perfectly seasoned and has a very nice fragrance. It was a right decision to order this dish. If you have a small appetite, you may want to share it with someone as it is really huge and very filling. Overall, I strongly recommend trying this dish and I would definitely come back again.

First time coming back here in ages, last time when I was here, I made some bad decisions when ordering. This time however, I did some research on what to get! I decided to get curry rice as it has accumulated up quite some fame in the past few weeks or so. When I arrived, there was already a very long queue. It took me around 15mins till I actually got to ordering my food. I ordered their pork chop set + a piece of braised pork ($4.00). Got to say at first glance, they are quite generous with their portions and also with their curry. The pork chop was quite nice as it was crispy on the outside which gave it a very nice crunch. However, I found the prok chop to be a little dry, but still acceptable. The braised pork on the other hand was very nice, it had alot of flavours infused with the pork, and also it was cooked to perfection as the pork was very tender and it split right as I pressed it with my fork. As for the vegetables, they were just normal cabbage, nothing too special. For their curry, I felt that it was pretty normal and nothing special to it as I had better onces before. The curry was fragrant, and had a little spice in it. I felt that the curry was a little too watery but overall still fuses well with the rice and dishes. Overall do come down and try the curry rice!

Don't be fooled by the appearance of this store, it may seem like an ordinary muslim store but OMG, they produce the best muslim food in Hougang!
Let's start off with the soup, it may seem normal but it is packed with full of flavour, it has the right amount of taste and spice to it! Now to the main star of the review, the chicken. Right off the bat, I could smell the aroma of the chicken. The chicken was very tender and flavourful, crispness surrounding the outside, and tender juicyness chicken on the inside. The sause was a bit of a let down as I felt that it was making the chicken too sweet, however if combined with the chilli, it is a very nice combo as the spice will tone down the sweetness giving it an overall nice sweet/spice ratio. The rice was mediocre, it had a nice aroma to it but i felt that the rice could have been cooked a bit longer with the spice so that more flavours could have been brought out. Overall, do come down to try this place!

This is my first time coming to Dunman food centre as it is quite far from home. My first impression of this place is that it is very quiet and very hot, maybe because I came on a very humid day and this place doesn't not have enough fans. I saw quite a few people ordering fish from this particular stall, fu Xing Mei Shi, therefore I decided to try it out. When it first arrived, it doesn't look that appetising to me, there is so much sauce, I feel like the sauce would empower the taste of the fish. However, I was surprised, the fish was sooooo fresh and tender, that its flesh falls off the chopsticks easily. The fish also retained its taste despite the amount of sauce covering it. The sauce was my so good! If you like chicken rice Chili sauce, you are going to love this sauce, as it taste similar to the usual Chili rice from chicken rice stalls. Overall, I would come back, just for this fish as the freshness and price of this fish is hard to find elsewhere.

Whenever I walked past food republic, the smell of this dish always attracted me, therefore, I decide to try it. At first glance, it looks super delicious and the smell of it was unforgettable. But when I took my first bite, it was sooooo salty and does not taste like what I imagined it to be. Although the Hor fun was very chewy and has that charred taste to it, the sauce was not to my liking. The sauce was very salty and is quite jelat. The beef was a little too tough and does not have much taste to it which was quite disappointing. Overall, this was quite a bad experience for me as it does not really suit my liking.

The hype for this curry rice was quite high. And so, I decided to go down and have a look myself, at first glance the store looks more like a ramen place than a curry rice place HAHA. What I found out was that they sold ramen and curry rice. However for some reason I saw people ordering their curry rice more. I decided to get their mega platter which was just $19.80. The wait for the food was relatively short and when I went to collect my food, I was in shock. The plate was soo freaking big, and it was filled with all sorts of goodness! Btw, the plate was freaking heavy, I would say close to 3kg.
So moving on to the food review, the tempura was decent, it has sufficient breading unlike the other ones I had which was caked with breading. The pork chop was relatively dry and it wasn't that pleasant looking either. The chicken was very nice tho, it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. There was a crab cake thingy (not sure what it is called) was pretty nice for texture however i feel that it was lacking in flavour as it was really blend. The egg is just pretty normal, nothing fancy about it. The rice was abit mushy and too soft in my opinion, as for the curry it just taste like normal curry they bought from NTUC.
Overall I would say its nothing that special, the portion was big tho but the taste was just mediocre.

Every time i come to whampoa, i always order this stall, reason being? Its cheap and superrrr delicious! They sell curry chicken accompanied with either rice (+$0.50) or bread (+$1.00). I usually just get the rice as i am not really a bread person however i did get their bread once, and let me tell u their bread is amazingggg. It's crusty on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside! Which makes it great for dipping in curry as it will not make the bread soggy but at the same time still soaks up all the curry! Now let me get on to the review of the curry, they serve a generous amount of chicken and potato, their curry in my opinion is just nice of spice level, not flaming hot but still packs a punch, which is quite suitable for kids! The chicken is very tender as well, the meat literally falls off the bone when i scrape on it, it is always cook to perfection, as for the potato, i dont know how they do it but for some reason when i eat the potato, it taste like the potato actually soaked up all the curry and the taste of curry inside the potato is amazinggg. Dont be fooled by the picture, it may seem like a small portion, however there is more than it meets the eye, as the awesome ingredients are sunk beneath the curry.
Fun fact:
From what i have heard the curry recipe was actually pass down to him by his grandmother ! No wonder it had a homely feel to it.

As I wasn't sure which Stall sells the best satay, I just ordered from the nearest stall. It took a very long time for the satay to arrive, around 30mins or more. I have already finished all the other foods that I have ordered before the satay arrive. In my opinion, the satay was perfectly marinated, it also has the char taste which I really love. However, there are a few burnt parts. Adding to that, the satay sauce was horrible, it totally ruined the satay as a whole. The sauce was very watery, and tasted quite bland. I would not go back for this again because I was very disappointed with the satay sauce.

This was my first time coming back to chomp chomp since the reopening, the first store that i tried was their oyster omelette. As i saw many people ordering from that store, i also went ahead and got a plate of oyster omelette. I ordered the $5 one as i did not see anyone going for the bigger portions, maybe its because its not worth the upsize i guess. The wait was relatively long, which was kind of expected due to the amount of orders. I waited for around 20mins before my food arrvied. At first glance, the oyster omelette did not look that appetising, i took the first bite and it was just 'meh~' it did not taste that fantastic, in my opinion, the oyster omelette was a bit too bland and lack of taste. Personally i liked it to be a bit more crispy so that there was more texture. Maybe i was unlucky but i found egg shells in my oyster omelette, not just like 1 small bit, it was a big piece of egg shell. In my honest opinion don't get it from this store, i am pretty sure there are other better ones.

As chomp chomp was famous for their bbq stuff and also stingray, i too jumped onto the bandwagan and ordered myself a grilled stingray. To my surprise the wait was relatively short, i would say around 10mins or so and my grilled stingray was here. The first impression of the stingray was relatively pleasant. The charing of the stringray was perfect, there wasn't any burnt parts. It was very aromatic and i could not wait to dive into it. The fish was really tender and moist, and the reason why i liked it a lot is due to the char kind of taste(not burnt). The fish melted instantly in my mouth and all i wanted to do was to dive into it more! The sause that came with it though, i personally did not like it, as it was very strong and fishy. This grilled stingray has a relatively low spice level, which makes it suitable for kids. I can see myself coming back again to get the stingray, i highly recommend this place.
