For ultimate homey comfort, nothing quite beats a breakfast of Teochew kueh painstakingly made by hand. Choose from an assortment that includes Rice Cake (png kueh), Chinese Chives Cake (gu chai kueh) and Turnip Cake (soon kueh), all priced between $0.70 to $0.90 each. The kueh skin is delicately thin and chewy, and the fillings are generous and tasty. The stall offers you the option to pan-fry the kueh, which adds a lovely crisp and char. Take Tastemaker Marc T.'s advice and order the pan-fried version, and swing by early if you intend to bag home a few boxes as the stall usually sells out around 2 to 3pm daily.

Join the queue at this stall in Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre for the Soy Sauce Chicken Noodles (from $3). Tastemaker Acamas Teo declares it to be one of the tastiest versions of soy sauce chicken he's had, thanks to the smooth, flavourful skin and amazingly tender meat. The springy, al dente noodles are a nice bonus too. Ask for the chicken thigh for additional succulence! Add on the tasty Roasted Pork Belly (extra $1.50), but it's recommended that you focus on the stellar chicken instead. If you can't get enough, order half a chicken ($7, or $14 for whole) to feast on till your heart's content.

Located within Yuhua Market & Hawker Centre, this stall draws the crowds in with its silky smooth congee. Business starts at 7am in the morning, so plan to have this for an early breakfast before heading to work. Otherwise, expect to wait 15 minutes during peak hour, as each bowl of congee is made upon order. Follow Tastemaker Amanda Liu's lead and order the Century Egg with Lean Meat Congee ($3) that comes topped with fried shallots, spring onions and a freshly fried dough stick (you tiao). Be sure to add on an Egg ($0.50) too! Don't be fooled by the congee's lacklustre appearance. Tastemaker Amanda loves the consistency of the rice grains and how every spoonful is so rich and flavourful!

Heed Tastemaker Michelle Kayla Tey's advice and come here early to snag a bowl of silky porridge, as this humble dish commands a long queue and sells out just after lunch time (or earlier, if it's a rainy day). Go for the crowd favourite Pork Porridge (from $2.50) that comes with a generous portion of minced meat, liver, chopped onions, tung choy (salted vegetable), fried shallots and a dough fritter (you tiao). Tastemaker Vanessa Kou describes the thick, smooth and exceedingly satisfying porridge to be surprisingly flavourful on its own, and also recommends adding an egg ($0.50) to stir in and further enhance the taste. Pro tip: Want to beat the queue? Call ahead and order to take away your porridge!

Helmed by three young hawkerpreneurs, this Muslim-owned stall in Golden Mile Food Centre offers a sizeable range of affordable gourmet halal burgers. The beef options fared decently with their juicy patties, but their Country Fried Chicken Burger ($5) stood out for us. A glorious piece of fried chicken comes topped with a refreshing slaw, an oozy sunny side-up and sandwiched between grilled buns made in-house. Burpple Tastemaker Xing Wei Chua akins the chicken to your typical Taiwanese Chicken Cutlet, so you know you're getting the good stuff. All burgers come with fries (top up $1 for onion rings), and is guaranteed to fill you up despite its deceptively small appearance. Dining in a group? Share their signature Honey Soy Fried Chicken Wings ($4.90 for six) that reminded us of Korean fried chicken, glazed in honey soy sauce and topped with spring onions and sesame seeds. Bang for your buck? We think so.

Okay, I supposed many have already tried at least one galaxy cake. But since not all galaxy cakes are the same (this one is called milkyway), swipe to see how @boufesg 's version looks like beneath its mysterious glaze!
🌌
Contrary to what I had assumed (that pretty cakes are not yummy), this one has both the looks and the taste. The combination of white chocolate mousse, honey genoise (sponge cake) and calamansi jelly on a chocolate stable cookie is just perfect. There's a good balance between sweet and sour flavours and an interesting mix of soft and hard textures. I will come back for this again.

Good Night! I'm going to dream of this Galaxy..

Westsiders, you're in luck! Popular Hokkien restaurant Beng Hiang has moved from its Amoy location to Jurong East, which means you're so much closer to their signature Kong Ba Bao (from $16) — melt-in-the-mouth meat slicked in a rich, umami-laden sauce and wrapped in fluffy steamed buns. Other must orders include the Spiced Sausage and Fried Prawn Balls ($8), better known as ngoh hiang and hei zhou, the Oyster Omelette ($12), fried till crisp golden and studded generously with plump oysters, and the Traditional Hokkien Noodles (from $8). The icing on the cake? There is no need to pay for service charge here!
