Viet, Thai, Indo, Peranakan cuisines
Nasty cocky arrogant bunch of people. The feeling is akin that you owe them a favor, but they should be aware that the customers are paying their salary.
Please go trip adviser and see the numerous negative feedbacks on appalling attitudes. Food is not bad, authentic, but not the best. They sell frozen stuffs, and reheat in-store.
$32.50 for everything.
Homely cuisine, not too salty/sweet/oily/MSG. Not the best Peranakan food but good enough. Casual dining atmosphere. I will not purposely travel there for it, but will def go back if i'm nearby. Will not recommend if you are looking for super awesome peranakan food though.
Good value lunch sets from 10bucks onwards.
Mine was $14 - ayam buah keluak set
Lucky Plaza outlet: Famous crispy duck from @bebekgorengpakndut_sg! The Asian duck confit ๐ It's normal-nice, won't purposely travel there, or have cravings for it.
Rating: 7/10

Pros: Not a fan of peanut sauce but lovin' the gado-gado (veg) โค Oxtail meat was very tender. Crispy duck is yums, especially the skin, so sinful yet good.
Cons: Don't feel too authentic. The duck was nice, but it's not same as the ones i had in Indo & tad bit dry. It's like a simplified version. Oxtail soup was thin (prefer stew versions), & too much "stuffs" inside. Beware the chilli, it's super spicy. Prefer to takeaway/ubereats, place not comfy.
Price: S$37.40 - 2pax, finished nearly everything
Geylang Lor 44 (Grandlink Sq): Long-standing & popular, since the time i used to live there which was more than 10-11 yrs ago ๐ฑ๐จ Some deem this to be THE place for the best Vietnamese food - probably for SG's standards as not many strong contenders in Viet food scene. For me it's okay only but it sure has it's merits! It's one of my fav cuisines so i'm *tough* when it comes to Viet food.

Pros: Highly affordable. Extensive menu. Outdoor is beside a river, lovely at night (but polluted & not romantic during daytime ๐). Nice drinks!! Food is generally tasty. Stewed beef is really tender! Glad they sell small pho soup separately. Good for a nice quick-lunch sort of place.
๐
Cons: Crowded & long q during dinner. If you like tasting MSG, salt & copius amts of fish sauce. Beef brisket in standard pho is dry & chewy (so is everywhere else. I don't order beef pho for this reason, even tho i love the soup)

Price: S$8
Kovan outlet: Nakhon kitchen is a long-standing place for cheap & good Thai food. I won't go back as i'm not big on Thai food, thus unwilling to go through the "process" of q-ing, getting my anxiety lvls up with blaring music, busy servers, chairs constantly bumped into & the urgency to hurry up & leave for the next customer. Even hawker center more relaxing.

Pros: Authentic. Small serving but cheaper - allows me to try more dishes. Food is tasty!
๐
Cons: Waited 40mins. There was still a q at 9pm! Super noisy, loud blaring metal screeching music. Uncomfortable. Dirty. Found hair & a tiny fruit fly in my food (not a big deal to me & cant do anything already ๐). Fish cakes ๐ (not pictured)

Price: S$37 - 2 pax, just nice
Vietnamese ๐๐ One of my fav cuisines! Ever since discovering @sandwich_saigon a few years ago, i've been going back consistently. Not THE BEST Vietnamese food EVER, but for the price you pay & standard of food, it's def ๐ There are more & more Viet baguette (banh mi) shops sprouting up everywhere but none that i've tried came close. Once you've had "real" well-made viet baguettes, you will be in for a surprise!
Rating: 9/10
Will i return/recommend: Yes/Yes
Pros: Def one of the best for Viet baguettes in SG. It's not only thin crusted & soft, it's really easy to bite into. Unlike French baguettes which are tough, chewy and dense, these are light, crisp & fluffy. Budget friendly! Nothing beats fresh, but even packing it home, it was still good! Fav selection: Garlic chicken add egg
Cons: Fillings are hit & miss, not everything is nice (i've tried most). Noodle soups may be too sweet for some but i like it. Prices have been increasing way too frequently.
Price: S$7 - garlic chicken sandwich
One of my favorite cuisines is Vietnamese due to the medley of spices in their food! @mrspho is a very popular dining place for simple & fuss-free Viet food along Beach Road.

Pros: Pretty authentic (i feel they may have tweaked it a little to better suit our local palates). Food is tasty, especially if you enjoy stronger flavours. Fav dishes: Pork cutlet/lemongrass chicken rice, beef stew, chicken wing
Cons: Heavy MSG usage. Crowded during peak hours, may need to queue. Not a fan of the classic beef pho as the soup is a little "thin" (weak flavour from spices) and the beef is dry & chewy. Pork cutlet can get quite dry and tough sometimes, but still tasty from the marinade. Meatballs are salty and i don't really like the texture as it feels raw even though it's not.
Price: S$23.85 - pork cutlet rice, meat balls, beef stew (not pictured), 2 takeaway boxes
