Glad to say this 1 Michelin star Soya Sauce Chicken's quality is as good as I remembered (even before it won the award)!! At $2.50/plate, its screams 'value for money'. QQ noodles, super tender chicken. Must order more!!!
Crack & Press is a new cafe along Stanley Road, sharing spaces with Copper on Stanley and serving sandwiches, soups, breakfast and dessert during lunch hours. Pork Belly Sandwich is described as Sake Kasu Brasied Pork Belly, Miso, Coriander, Green Onion, Mirin and Asian Coleslaw, and comes with a side of either chips of fries to your fancy. Each slice contains three pieces of thickly cut pork belly, soft and chunky with meaty flavours that seemed to be toned down from its unique marination, while accompanied with a teriyaki-like flavour that coats it subtly, but still evident. The coleslaw was crunchy, and provided a refreshing bite to the sandwich. Using ciabatta bread, the bread was soft and chewy to the bite. At $14 the price is just right, but it's hard to find a Japanese-inspired sandwich using Pork Belly (most are seemingly more replicative of Banh Mi), especially with the extensive use of Japanese alcohol elements like this one.
The beef patty was mild flavored and very juicy. The melted cheese on top didn't overpower the flavor. Candied bacon was a bit like bak kwa and I liked it. Towards the end, the bottom brioche bun turned soggy but it was overall a good burger.
My childhood fave made 100 times even more indulgent with chocolate-flavoured milk bread crusted in cornflakes and fried till golden-brown and impossibly crunchy on the exterior.
Within, those all-too-familiar flavours of sticky peanut butter and tangy berry jam deliver all the nostalgia and comfort that the inner kid in me demands.
